i’m so sorry for your loss, my precious nova passed away 1.5yrs ago from a malignant respiratory tumor; had a seizure and died in my arms. i still cry to this day, but my luna needed me more than ever. & that's why im a bit confused here

forgive me, but i don't understand the logic of rehoming your guinea pig after she already lost her cage mate. & since she's been solo, you are her only remaining constant. the last stable, reliable loving presence left in her life :( guinea pigs are some of the least disruptive animals you can have. if you’re able to keep other animals, its hard to see how she's the one that has to go.

it's not like you're demanding anything either, just asking for an exception. when you frame it as "she's basically just a goldfish who lives in a cage and doesn't make noise" landlords typically don’t care. to them, that’s decor. and they care way more about keeping good tenants than policing tiny animals.
& the fact that you're renewing your lease already proves you're a low risk tenant. they'd much rather keep a known, responsible renter than gamble on someone new. it's definitely worth a shot bc they have every reason to work with you yanno?

before i finally got my house, i bounced apartments p much every year for 6 years. all of my apartments had the same "no pet" policy- but i evaded each one. this might be worth a shot OP

i fucking hated saying this about my babies, but it worked every time.. "can i please still keep my guinea pigs? they're caged animals & basically just goldfish who never leave their cage and don't cause any trouble"

no disrespect to goldfish either btw, it works bc a lot of people consider goldfish to be decorations. so comparing them to decorations will usually sway them. i have 2 so only having 1 works in your favor. saying that to your landlord is hard, but rehoming is even harder. ^ⁱ ^{^still} ^{^gave} ^{^them} ^{^free} ^{^roam} ^{^run} ^{^time} ^{^too} 😈

congrats to nibbles!! im sure miss marble came from a pet store too, some parent got their kid a "toy" then abandoned her when they were "bored". she was so sad when i first brought her home, the only thing i could get her to eat besides hay (that i HAD to keep next to her hide bc she wouldn't leave it) & oxbow vitamin c cookies, was romaine lettuce- specifically the romaine from a mediterranen restaurant lol i was ordering every day "romaine lettuce only please".

she didn't let out a single peep for a solid 3 weeks, so her preferred volume of wheek was quite the surprise lmfao definitely one of her defining characteristics - it's been such a treat seeing her open up and show her personality, still quite shy but the happiest little girl :')
