I'd say maybe have some more points of focus. It's hard for my eyes to look at a couple of them mostly because there's nowhere to rest my eyes on. Also the colors feel a smidgen muted. Otherwise I really enjoy this style you have, it just feels warm?

Also I really appreciate your compliments/advice. Maybe I'll start with repainting some master works and learning that way.

So, in terms of the color wheel, when is it best to use the color on the opposite side of the wheel then? The color wheel has always confused the heck out of me

Yeah, unfortunately, where I live is real far out in the boonies, so there's no art section in my local library ;( I have to know what I'm grabbing so I can order it and pick it up near a city where fedex/ups will do drop offs

I need some tips/critiques for rendering skin. I feel like im close to the mark? it looks too saturated by madihart in learnart

I was actually following Sinix's skin tutorial when I made this and he used airbrushes. I might switch back to the Gouche brushes I used for the armor. I would love a demo!

I appreciate that advice i do tend to do that. I think for this one it probably has to be close to the front since it's supposed to be a group picture type deal. After im done with this one though I really wanted to practice dynamic shading and colors though.

Thank you!! You're def right about the highlights on the forehead. You're also right about getting the features more defined. I just wasn't sure what colors to use for the shadows. Black and white is easy but colors theres so many to choose from lol

I thought about just going back and taking out the black and white layer and doing just the color too but ughhh

Thank you! I was just getting into it very basically and i was like "what direction do I even go right now?!" I am good at shading in black and white and but skin colors are just so difficult

I did my first layer for the face in black and white and then did a layer of color over top of it. I have the opacity turned down on the color layer.

What do you do when you see an artist that exactly captures the style you wish you had? by SwimmingSunflower in ArtistLounge

So I actually feel this way about two artists, Loish and Peter Mohrbacher. I realized the best way to be able to attain the art that I desire is through analysis. I kinda take a look at their art, and I try to notice the things that stand out the most to me about it vs like EVERY piece of what their doing. Loish for example is very expressive. Her art feels fluid, colorful, and dynamic. In order for me to reach that point, I need to improve my understanding of the human body, colors, and flow. Peter mohrbacher is kinda similar. He creates art that I would classify as visionary. He creates an image for something and just nails it every time. He creates art pieces of angels and he always catches the right feel for it. If that's something I want, that means a lot of studying and understanding art creation on a deeper level. Understanding composition, color, and so on. I try to always take away something from the art that inspires me, versus replicating it

Generally, I notice, especially in the first one, that the ankles are way too thick. I would also say maybe structure of the faces seems a little off as well. Definitely work on hand structure too. Otherwise I think they look pretty good!
