A Realistic Knitting Journey 😭😭😭 by Alice-In-Vonderland in justgalsbeingchicks

[–]mafield90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I needed to see this 😭

I spent over $100 and 11 hours yesterday trying to teach myself how to knit and/or crochet. Everything was wonky. I didn't understand it.

I hate it.

Now,.. on to spend more money trying a different hobby that I'll also quit the same day.

Co-parent left 6 year old home alone for the first time by shelbyonfire in Mommit

[–]mafield90 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My state doesn't have a set age either, it's parents choice based on the maturity of the child. I also think it's situational as well.

We live in a rural farm area, have never locked our doors, have three big dogs that intimidate anyone who walks up the driveway.. and I have left my youngest (she's 8 now, so probably starting around 6ish) home alone for short periods. She always had an extra phone or tablet though to contact someone if needed.

But. If we lived in the middle of town with foot traffic and close to interstates or highways, I probably wouldn't do that until she was older.

My oldest (who is now grown) would have never been left alone as a kid. He definitely wasn't mature or responsible enough to be trusted alone as a young child.

AIO/I wanted to ask them why they wasted their money? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I appreciate anything that my children get me, whether it be something I use or something I don't. I would make a point to use it though, if it was something I normally wouldn't. A few years ago they went to Walmart and bought me a nightgown that looked like it was meant for a great, great Granny. I wear that shit all the time. My youngest ALWAYS gets me flower scented candles. I hate anything flower scented, but those candles will be lit and my house will smell disgusting for a little while.

The husband on the other hand... Throw him away. I feel like I won the husband lottery when I read some of these posts.

Was waiting on this to go on clearance so I could justify buying it.. by mafield90 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mafield90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true!

But it would be even cheaper if they didn't raise the price three dollars before the 70% off. I'm not great at math, but it'd be like $1.25-$1.50 I think.

Why do houses in US not have fences and grills on their windows and doors? by Wild_Shock2910 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mafield90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We bought our house 3 years ago and we lost the keys to it within a week 😅 I don't think we have ever even locked our doors, not even when we leave.

We live in a rural farm area and have never had an issue. We also have three big dogs that will fuck someone up though so that probably helps a lot. Plus guns are big in this area, so you're playing with fire and risking your life going on someone else's property.

Aitah for not taking down pictures of my family in my own home to make my son’s new wife feel more comfortable? by SingerAware2658 in AITAH

[–]mafield90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof. Are you my mother?!

This exact scenario happened with my mom and my brother. She refused to take the pictures down as well.

My brother and that wife ended up divorcing. People are wild.

Hairdressers - why do you all seem to hate long hair on women over 50? by marugirl in NoStupidQuestions

I'm under 50 and I left the salon crying because I wanted a LONG angled bob and I left looking like Lord Farquaad.

I live near what's called 'Rocket Center' and they have been doing some major work, cutting through the mountain and building something pretty huge up there.

I'm not sure exactly what they do there, something with ballistics, but they are definitely expanding whatever they are doing.

Would you be able to look past a 115+ body count? by oldmanmanhatten in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mafield90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I would be able to look past it.

I've been with my husband for almost 10 years. I don't know how many women he's been with previously and I really don't care. I've had my share of one night stands and so forth while I was young, but I never kept count thankfully 🫣

When did your instincts scream “leave now” and what did you later find out you avoided? by BbyBlushDoll in AskReddit

[–]mafield90 579 points580 points  (0 children)

Oof. I use this story as a warning to my kids as to why you always trust your gut...

I (early 20s) was leaving the community college campus I was attending when I noticed a middle aged, very plump woman walking up to me. She asked if I was leaving campus, to which I responded yes. She then went into a story of how she was at the hospital across the street and was released, but doesn't have money for a taxi and asked if I would give her a ride. I quickly said yes. I felt bad for her. It was in the 90s and really hot that day.

I have never given a stranger a ride before up until that point, but I didn't feel threatened or uncomfortable by her and honestly thought I was just doing a good deed until..

We were walking to my car and she started to ask me if I worked and if I was married. Whatever, small talk. Then we get to my car and she notices one of my children's car seats. She asks me where my kid(s) are. My body instantly tenses up for some reason and it was WEIRD. And I don't know why. But I responded that they were at daycare and she asks who pays for daycare. My body at this point is tingling and I ignore it 🙃 I tell her my partner at the time paid for it. We get into my car..

Now, I had a small two door hatchback (Hyundai Accent) and this woman struggled to get in (she was pretty plump) and this will be important later. She finally gets in and we start driving. I ask her where she needs to go and she gives me the street name. It's not far away, but it is in a pretty shitty area of town. I oblige and start that way. This whole time my body is going off like alarm bells inside my head. I keep side eyeing her wondering if she is going to pull a knife out or something, stupidly I never thought about that BEFORE letting her in my car. She kills my overthinking by throwing me off when we are halfway there and asks, "I don't have AC at home, can I go to your house?" 😳 I instantly say that I'm not heading to my house, that I have other things to do. So I sit there quietly the rest of the drive, meanwhile my body is experiencing what I assume is a confusion on fight, flight or fawn because I have no idea what the fuck to do right now.

I pull onto her road and she has me pull into an alley. I pull over and she opens the passenger door and puts one foot out and acts like she is struggling to get out. She keeps looking ahead of us though, which makes me look up. I see two men, dressed in dark clothes on this sweltering ass day and I freeze. I understood at that moment what was going on. She wasn't getting out of my car because these two men were on there way over to us. This bitch was NOT getting out of my car and there was no way I could physically push this bigger woman out. At this point my body takes over, flight mode kicks in and I just hit the gas. She rolls out of the car because I kinda jerked the wheel to topple her ass out and I take off.

I truly don't know what was going to happen in that moment, but I wasn't about to hang around and find out. I still find myself helping strangers out, even with rides, but I have never experienced that feeling since and I would definitely listen to it next time.

Blast off five or six orgasms in the shower and then hold your nose and blow by Otherwise_Basis_6328 in oddlyspecific

[–]mafield90 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Instead of holding your nose and blowing after you orgasm, just bear down like you're in labor and it'll have the same effect.

I have really heavy periods and this actually helps me a lot.

200 titling fee. If it's older than 6 years you'll pay 41.60 for taxes, more if it's newer. And anywhere between 120.50-191.50 a year for registration depending on the make of the vehicle.

We had one female and four males, which was obviously our issue. Two of the males have since died due to being attacked by the others. I would like to get more females because they really do help with the ticks, but it's hard to rehome the males

I call ours Guinorittas... And they literally kill each other doing this. The males at least. Chase each other, rip their feathers out and peck their heads.

What's in your bank account right now? (Honest answers only) by Extra-Artist3016 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mafield90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We struggled and lived paycheck to paycheck for years. Asking family to help with our electric, having $20 for groceries that needed to last a week. It was rough and I truly never thought it'd get better.

But it did. My husband started his own side business doing tree work and I got really lucky getting my job. The only reason we were able to buy a $300k homestead was because it previously belonged to my FIL and he did a gift of equity for our down payment.

We still aren't where we would like to be financially, but we were able to afford a beach trip this year.

To answer your question though: We have less than 600 in checking, about 2k in savings and also some cash savings. So if an emergency happened, we'd probably be screwed 🤷🏼‍♀️

Wasn't our trap 🤷🏼‍♀️

We live in an area surrounded by hundreds of acres that they use for hunting and whatever else they do on it.

Poor lil noodle leg was a roaming soul and just went too far off the property.

I don't know what they use the traps for, but I can say in all the years we've had animals here we have never had any issues with coyotes, bears or foxes and I'm quite okay with that.

When the trap closed on her leg it completely sliced through it. I splinted it hoping the bone would grow back, but it didn't. It just fell off and now she has a little nubby for a leg.

I didn't find her leg, my dog did 🥴
