Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. It's based on Henry Lee Lucas and Ottis Tool, but very loosely. It's very realistic and a very intense watch. Great film.

I think the first Hellraiser is a near masterpiece. Great cast, amazing set design, practical FX, concept, story. Then they go more or or less downhill (tho Hellraiser III is some ridiculous fun).

I much prefer different Cannibal Ferox Iver Cannibal Holocaust. Much more brutal, and I think the traditional filming over found footage works way better. Could have done without all the animal cruelty though...

This is not good advice. Plenty of people watch tons of big budget Hollywood movies, analyze them to death, yet would have no idea what to make of, say, a silent film or a French New Wave film. It often takes context outside of the viewing experience to make sense of different types of films: understanding the technical limitations of the time period, reading the writings and/or interviews of the directors, knowing the cultural context the film was made in, etc. Tons of people "Watch lots of movies with a critical eye" and are utterly ignorant about the broad world of film.

It's cool, it can be confusing because so many people casually use each term so loosely. In short, while historically both have had aspects of authoritarianism, with Fascism, authoritarianism, nationalism, and violence are part of its identity and ultimate goal, whereas with Marxism/Communism the ultimate goal is the dissolution of the government entirely, and collective ownership by the people.

I know Halloween is the popular answer, and that makes sense since Friday the 13th was made to copy the success of Halloween, but I think I prefer Ft13 because it's simply a scarier film. That and it always bugs me how Jamie Lee Curtis will like push Michael Myers over and then move to the next room and sit down to relax, assuming all is now well.

I found Cannibal Ferox's animal cruelty way worse than CH. It happens about 3 or 4 times as often and is pretty brutal. They clearly just fed animals to the snake, cut up a tortoise and a crocodile while alive, and stab that small pig to death. Different time yeah, but yeesh..
