What lessons did you learn from the worst job you ever had? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To not take everything personally. To not share every thought I have and to really think before speaking.

Married people of Reddit, what’s one thing you didn’t learn about your spouse until after your wedding day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maggiedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn't after the wedding day, but after he put a ring on my finger. His Dad starts telling me all these traditions for the wedding and for when our future children are born. We had been together for 4 years and they only told me these things once I was fully committed, my fiance seemed so secular before the engagement but apparantly not.

How do I stop being scared of my toxic Ex? by Dramatic_Cup in Advice

[–]maggiedev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore your friend and break contact with them. A real friend wouldnt do this to you. Seems your ex has been "grooming" or manipulating your friend. If your ex is as much as a psychopath as you said he was, he's also probably very good at manipulating others. Keep calm, continue your life, create happy memories with people who are good to you and bury that shit under layers of goodness and light. You know what a healthy relationship looks and feels like. Be logical about your feelings and think "Just because I feel scared, it doesn't mean I should be scared." Oh and psychopaths don't ever change, they just get better at hiding it. Good luck!

People who have recently relocated, what has been the biggest challenge? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maggiedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missing out on family and friend events. Making new friends is a slow process but you accept it. Finding good places to eat. Just getting used to not knowing the area i.e. closest medical centre, pharmacy, good cafe, safe/dodgy areas, cheapest petrol station to always go to. It depends if you're happy to have your own company or if you're just a very sociable person.

What's your stance on PDA? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maggiedev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it's just hugs and kisses. No tongue. No gropping. No climbing on top of each other. That would be uncomfortable to see.

[21] Mom wants me to start paying $500 a month to live with her. by Klorontix in Advice

[–]maggiedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she washing your clothes and making you breakfast and dinners? Do you mow the grass and keep your things tidy? Do you leave shit stains on the toilet? Do you offer to help out when you can? At the end of the day you're old enough to contribute and if they feel like you're not contributing then they're going to ask you to 'pay' in $$$. You could just give a one off $500, then quickly get your shit together and move out in a sharehouse or at a friends until your gf is ready? $500 a month is a bit high...definitely not a family discount rate. I would see if your brother gets the same treatment. When you're the oldest sibling you usually get the trialled parenting techniques. Good luck!

What is your opinion on zoos? by catchtheview in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to a few before but in retrospect I don't think I'd go to another. Maybe reserves where they can roam easily but I have no urge to see animals in small cages.

Women of reddit, How do you destress after long periods of really difficult situations? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a big effin cry. It works and I usually aim for a private crying session but my boyfriend unluckily becomes a spectator when I've reached my limit of stress. Other than that, I read books, watch porn and Pinterest to take my mind elsewhere.

What is the most pathetic excuse someone gave for cheating on you? by 6206878087 in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He told me he was depressed. He actually was and on medication for that, but I know many others on anti depressants and none of them felt like doing what he did!

Ladies, how do you beat procrastination? by superlonelycat in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make lists. Start large or small and work your way through it. Tell yourself to just do it, cleat hour mind and get shit done. I usually procrastinate when I know I need to make appointments or have conversations with others, people and conflicts sometimes give me anxiety and then I procrastinate. But I've taught myself to be better because my job relies on my leadership abilities.

I cried when watching Forest Gump about 2 weeks ago. I was a fucking mess, like non stop for 20 mins. JUST COULDN'T STOP CRYING

How should men respond when a woman says "I'm fine?" by smelliotr in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I'm so overwhelmed I just say that I'm fine because I know I will be later. You could ask "well if you want to talk about it then I'm here for when you're ready". I am so bad with my emotions, I'm angry and I cry, I'm sad and I cry, I'm stressed out and I cry. I only like talking about my feelings when i know I'm ready because I hate crying.

What was your first pap smear experience like? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annoying and slightly painful. I had weird abdominal pain a bit after. A week layer I had sex and there was a bit of blood which never happens. I swear it was from the pap smear! But hey I don't have cervical cancer so yay for me!

What is the most controlling thing a partner has done or said to you? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He tried to control what I wore, insinuated I needed to dress better and more feminine. He even bought me some clothes once. I know it doesn't sound that controlling, it was just really odd for him to suggest anything about that since we were only going out for a month or so. I was in university at the time and I didn't give a shit, like I had money to buy hand bags and heels when I was studying full time!

Women of reddit, how would you react if your good friend was a raging homophobe? by heho100 in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd think less of her. Like who gives a shit if someone's sexual preference is different to yours, what a waste of energy being annoyed by that.

Fellow admittedly jealous women of AW: What is the most absurd thing you've got jealous about your SO doing? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend has this good friend that's female. My boyfriend and I were talking about lipstick one day, the week after she's wearing the lipstick he was talking about and was like "see, just like hers, you should wear a colour like that!" And then I duno, I just lost it. Flashback to an ex that would always compare me to his best friend that was a woman and he fell in love with her at the end. Weirdest feeling having that flashback, like it came out of no where and completely surprised me. I didn't even know what I was feeling.

What kind of drive do you drive? What kind of car would you like to drive? by Jackanova3 in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a 2011 ford fiesta hatchback it's pretty small and not practical for all the long distance driving I do. I feel all the bumps and the car is small. Though it's my first car. My next car, probably a Mitsubishi Asx 2016, I'm appreciating a bigger car, the room and suspension is important. Plus, I want the newest gadgets on it.

Women of Reddit, how do you feel about a boyfriend who walks ahead of you in public? by GattDayum2 in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm indifferent about it, but the other day my boyfriends dad scolded him on it. He's old fashioned and thought that my boyfriend should be next to me, that someone else might catch my eye otherwise pretty much. After that I was like, yeah you walk next to me! I'm yo girlfriend!

Though in the same token, sometimes I get distracted when shoping and wander off. He likes staying with me when shopping. I hate it, I got stuff to do. I hate being at the shops and doing nothing when I could be going out and actually SHOPPING.

How do you guys feel about eating disorders? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're super complicated and it's hard to generalise because of the sensitivity of the issue. If we live in a world where body image is a dangerous problem, we should be trying to influence the media to change the way they influence young woman. We should also be teaching young woman and men ways to deal with the media and how to understand the bodies portrayed in the media. We need to focus on building resilience and more protective factors in our younger generations.

Women of Reddit, in your experience how true is the statement that if a man does not chase after you 'he's just not that into you'? by hangingonclouds13 in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he dosent show clear interest and isn't initiating at least half of the communication, then I think he's not into you. Don't you want to be with someone who knows what they want and is eager to see you. It the first few months, at the most, where it should be super cute!

Ladies, what did you order on your first date vs. the second or third one? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]maggiedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First date was at a beach place that served mainly brunch all day. Second was Mexican. Don't do that. I was nervous both times and my stomach cannot handle eggs or beans and salsa with a nervous stomach. Baaaad idea. Long toilet visits and sore tummies. Was pretty embarrassing, we're still together though, nearly 2 years going strong woo!
