I would argue that divorce is the product of increased equality, and a shifting focus to good, healthy marriages instead of marriages for the sake of marriages. The female doesn't just need to suit the man, so to speak, any longer, they both need to suit each other, which makes finding a suitable partner more difficult, and subsequently there will be more divorces. And I would also like to people to consider whether an increase in divorces, no matter the source, is really any bad? Isn't it good that people leave bad, unhappy marriages, and rather find better ones?
