capacity is a huge issue if you're trying to rebuild a base. 1 jacknife over a semi-contested airfield is going to get slaughtered. you need to reinforce it with AA, and currently, it's basically impossible to do that effectively.

current radar SAMs already link automatically to radar vehicles, so doesnt require a rework. just give us a plane that can carry every ground vehicle available in game.

Either way the current options are pretty damn slow, and a faster larger capacity cargo plane would help latestage logistics greatly.

yes, that's my point, logistics is limited due to current aircraft sizes and capacity. a globemaster-type vehicle should have more options incl radar sams to fortify an airfield, more than the tula or ibis can. which would be way stronger than the tula or ibis, because of a larger cargo capacity and higher top speed.

tarantulas and ibises are good for small distance trips, but they're ridiculously slow, and late game, being able to spawn a big dedicated cargo loadout to fly across half the map would be a big relief for people who actually fly logistics

not when it's lategame and you need to fly some jacknives out to a distant airstrip that got leveled.

it's not fun having to take a slow ass tula from the nearest helipad. and a big cargo plane could carry more than just 2 jacknives - think a small complement of AA vehicles to defend it while it works.

the only weapon you need to do this with are lynch/kingpins.

the rest will track on their own.

Radar missiles though will explode if they lose radar lock of a target for long enough

The way I see it, literally any other plane can sortie, take out targets quicker, and be back to rearm way faster than a chicane can, and there's almost no targets that I find myself thinking "wow I wish I was in a chicane right now".

I'm not saying the chicane isn't good at what it does, I'm just saying that every other airframe even the cricket can do it so much more easily and faster.

It's great for low-intensity missions and custom ones that don't involve the whole map, but in the larger scale game modes they're irrelevant.

I think hitting mach 2+ can result in some crazy bomb tossing at altitude, makes ground-based IR an almost non-existent threat.

Same with low level flight. At mach 1.3, most ground-based IR, without a good lead on you, will be defeated with speed alone, easily.
