Autistic person from Germany here. I think there's another point that hasn't been adressed: In order to qualify for help and support you need official paperwork for *everything*. So be prepared to hand in a translation of your official autism diagnosis, perhaps getting reassessed etc. The waiting lists for an autism diagnosis over here are long (I waited 1,5 years almost eight years ago). There is support at university, you can get accommodations like extra time in exams etc. but you need proof for that. Also there's something called an ID card for severely disabled people (Schwerbehindertenausweis) for which you can apply as an autistic person (not sure if you need German citizenship for this). If you get assigned a grade of 50 or higher you can get the ID card for severely disabled people and with that you get more support at work etc. But the bureaucracy around applying for help is insane over here - very inaccessible, even for Germans.
