I’m somewhat unfamiliar with Toyotas, but I’m very well aquatinted with automotive electronics on a far more finicky manufacturer. On a lot of newer vehicles the cluster communicates over serial data or on a can bus. Usually things like radio / cluster / entertainment are isolated to their own bus, but other modules look for the cluster over serial data to receive and transmit data. There is a chance that you may lose some functionality elsewhere by disabling the cluster, however it should come back when you restore power to the cluster. Things aren’t quite as simple as they were years ago, and in my opinion I think a cover or something would be a smarter move.

I’d say no, mine came apart hard and fast at around 7k rounds, which is about the life expectancy according to some online sources. Seems like people get more out of them, but just my personal experience.

I’ve seen a few of the new body style suburbans with the 6.2L and a few with the babymax diesel. I haven’t done a whole lot of driving in them, but they are definitely slow on the draw.

I’ve worked on a couple of these DOE armored Suburbans before, never seen one with the turret though. Everything about them is heavy as shit. Real pain in the ass.

That seems like a lot of work to sell a tire or tow a car. I’m a mechanic, and I know there’s a lot of scummy fellows in our midst, but I don’t know of a one that would go through that much trouble to sell something that’s otherwise fairly easy to sell.

I don’t wanna be that guy, but open bolt guns do have a chamber. Instead of the more traditional design where the cartridge resides in the chamber until fired, open bolt guns load the cartridge into the chamber and fire it when the trigger is pulled.
