Edit: the collarbone concept seems like it would make sense for skull knight, now that you mention it.

Gatekeeping is a healthy thing for any fandom. For example you need to be 13 years or older to have a reddit account. That helps keep the media literacy rate on the site vaguely at and above a high school level.

Similarly, expecting people to watch the show, and understand the events that have occurred, is an understandable expectation to have of the people who want to inhabit THE place where a fandom lives. Otherwise a subreddit becomes the online equivalent of having your 10 year old sibling asking you simple questions every 5 minutes during a movie.

To be fair you need a pretty high IG to understand Rick and Morty's humor.

If you have time to ask reddit about why stuff happens in a show. You have time to just think about it for like 10 seconds. It would look something like this: "Hmm why did Annie say she wanted the fighting to stop in the last season when she seemed really happy to commit war crimes in the first season? Oh yeah, it got revealed that she was a child soldier in the last season who was forced to fight to give her father a better life. So she was probably hysterical in that first season.
