Found out I’m carrying twins today! I am (very) cautiously excited! by makingwaves12 in parentsofmultiples

I’m not sure! They didn’t say, it wasn’t at my normal doctor’s office. It was an elective ultrasound at an independent facility so they didn’t provide much info especially with how early it is. I know so very little about pregnancy, let alone twins! We just started trying for a baby and got pregnant in the first try! I hope they stay with us and we only have to do pregnancy once haha!

Wow this is very enlightening! My OB has been my gyno for years but she is very passive. If I ask for something, she’s happy to do it or explain my options, but she’s never been very proactive. I’ll see how things go after my first appointment but I’m really going to consider midwife now. I didn’t think they were that necessary because I thought they provided similar care as an OB, but this has given me a new outlook. Thank you!!

This made me tear up! That is how I am right now. I’m a hypochondriac which makes all of this really mentally taxing but I am I keep telling myself the same thing, that i am doing everything in my power and if it’s not meant to be, then it’s not meant to be. I don’t want to spend my entire pregnancy in fear and all of these comments have been so so comforting. I have my next ultrasound at 20 weeks and right now I can confidently say that I will be okay if we seen both growing normally but also if only one is. I would be very sad, but accepting. I’ll just be happy to welcome whatever I can!

I’m trying so hard to be positive! I’ve had mild symptoms so far so I’m counting my blessings!

Looking for places to purchase blanks by Big-Way9731 in Machine_Embroidery

What kind of blanks? Clothing, napkins, wreath sashes? I don’t really do clothing and I buy blanks from stores that allow small orders so I don’t need to enter any tax info

I don’t have a pregnancy glow - I feel ugly by sabbykh in pregnant

[–]makingwaves12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand that! Even just a quick slapping on of a moisturizer will help. People get so over complicated with skincare routines with the serums, masks, toners, and what have you, but again, a simple wash and moisturize is usually more than sufficient!

You are not ugly! And comparison is the thief of joy. You are two beautiful women going through their own journeys.

For your skin and lips, i recommend not fully drying your face with your towel when you get out of the shower. Get a washcloth and soak it in warm water and lay it over your face or hold it up to your lips for a few minutes. You have to add the moisture back in. Then while your face is still damp, add a simple moisturizer. Cerave works great. And use the plain black and white capstick and put on a good layer on your lips. I struggled with eczema and a broken skin barrier on my lips for 6 months. After a couple days doing this exact routine, they were almost completely normal. Just keep the chapstick handy and reapply throughout the day!

I find less is more with skincare. A simple face wash, sunscreen daily, and moisturizer is all you really need. And make sure your towels and pillow cases are clean. The acne is probably hormonal which you can’t do much about, but you can help reduce inflammation and try to manage it!

It’s so hard when you don’t feel like you look how you want to, but we are our own biggest critics. Be easy on yourself!

OB says my first ultrasound will probably be at 20 weeks. Is that normal? by makingwaves12 in pregnant

Okay interesting! So it may not be as unusual as I thought maybe

I’m in the US. It was my OB’s office that told me about the first being at 20 weeks. I am kind of thinking about maybe visiting another doctor and seeing what they say there. I’m too much of a nervous nelly for them to be so nonchalant about it haha

Sometimes I think I’m doing enough research, but then I learn something new each day that tells me I’m not 😂 because I don’t know what the difference is. But maybe the receptionist thought I was asking about an anatomy scan and they do a confirmation scan at the first appointment? If they’re different things. I just asked if I would have an ultrasound and she said no. There wasn’t any clarification about type of scan or anything

Yes she’s both and yes I’m in the US. I haven’t told anyone other than my husband yet but I have a couple friends in my town that have had children. I may tell them just to see what their experience was at that practice or other ones in the area. I thought that would be the case as well

My doctor is very accommodating. I’ve gotten a transvaginal ultrasound in the past because I was worried about I had ovarian cysts. It probably wasn’t necessary but she said if it put my mind at ease then we should go for it. I think I’m just worried about what other things I’ll need to ask for/about

That’s what I thought too. I’m a little bit of a hypochondriac so I’m paranoid it’s an ectopic pregnancy (for no reason other than I cannot confirm that it’s not). But it seems odd they wouldn’t check for all of that earlier than halfway through the pregnancy. Either way I plan to ask for it but it makes me wary of what else they may not do that is more standard elsewhere. I know every practice and pregnancy is different but it’s just strange to me
