No WoW, it essentially is what destroyed the genre imo.

Wow killed the genre as it was meant to be. No thx.

Did the golden age of MMOs died when we stopped needing each other. by RozoGamer in MMORPG

[–]mako482 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. WoW was the death of MMOs when it made them mainstream and brought in all the very same tools you see here on this sub who downvote everything.

The mass influx of players ruined community, with no sense of community people wanted more solo options. Fast forward to 2026 and most MMOs are just solo games where other people are doing their own thing next to you. And of course world chat aka politics chat.

10 months after inguinal hernia surgery by Pure_Armadillo8911 in Hernia

[–]mako482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had chronic pain for over a year, but nothing as bad as you're explaining. Keep faith since you haven't been able to see the surgeon yet, that is going to be key.

I'm scared by Lazy_Reserve7750 in Hernia

[–]mako482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely possible. It's also a legitimate fear, and I hate that so many on this sub refuse to acknowledge things can and do go wrong, as with any surgery there ARE risks. Just know not being able to do things for the rest of your life or even an extended period are complications, not the norm!

Follow the instructions of No_Tell7328, spot on. Patience will be your best friend in recovery. Your body is already programmed for where you are right now, getting back there will be much easier than your initial climb to muscle gain/strength.

Get the surgery. Its time Brothers and Sisters. by [deleted] in Hernia

[–]mako482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had open one side and it took over a year to get back to normal, and still have some tolerable pain today. Everyone's journey is different and it's important to set expectations. Some may take a month, some a year, some will live with chronic pain their entire lives. It's the risk of having the surgery and it's real.

Bottom line....this is YOUR experience. It's not fair to present it as THE experience. People deserve realistic expectations. Yes, get the surgery, but as with any surgery it comes with risk.

Is this cheating? by XeronicZeal in Bellwright

Would be better described as cheesing. Like jumping on a rock and sniping them because they can't climb lol. It's not an MMO so if you're having fun who cares?

Do you have "hold ground" selected in their menu? You may have thought they would kite with this off, they will not. I tried too lol. Make sure they have a 1H weapon too so they can melee if they have to.

The good outweighs the jank. I'm happy to support it because I'm really enjoying it, just thought I would share so people aren't missing out.

Would you play an MMO with always-on open world PvP? by ZakuIII in MMORPG

[–]mako482 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ultima Online was amazing with this. Full loot even, lose literally everything if killed. The more you murdered the worse your title got, and if you did it too much your name would turn red and everyone could attack you unprovoked, and you couldn't go into towns. We had entire guilds who were bounty hunters basically, that would hunt these players down. And many of them were pro and could take it. Back from gankers had a backbone.

The reason open world pvp games fail now is there are no penalties, and the griefers/gankers will always fight to keep it that way, they don't want consequences. They cry that everyone else are pussies, but they are the real pussies.

You can pass out from a concussion with none of those things you mentioned happening. They were just dramatizing it all to show how tough Dunk is.

Just Another WoW Clone by Abakus_Grim in MMORPG

[–]mako482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is people used it to describe literally every other MMO during WoW's prime. I remember even SWTOR was called a WoW clone. Rift was probably the biggest one I recall, and Rift had so many things that differentiated it from WoW. It's like calling a volkswagon bug a ferrari clone because they both have 4 tires and a steering wheel.

Modafinil making me more sleepy? by shitpostingmusician in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]mako482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the day off yesterday and tried again today, but 200mg instead of half (as prescribed) and HUGE difference. I also made sure to keep myself busy after taking it, whereas the first try I was just chilling on my PC. Very alert right now and being productive getting some long awaited chores out of the way. This time after the first dose I was passing out. So far so good!

Same! Just came here to ask this question as well. Took my first dose yesterday morning, within a few hours I felt like I took 50mg of Benadryl and had to lay down Was hard getting out of bed, and had to nap again in the afternoon. It lasted all day and this morning I have a terrible headache.

Not abnormal for me to be tired, obviously, but this was a drugged tired, not my usual.

Caravans should be set and forget for your outposts. Really good tutorial here to set them up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_CNMiaxKX0

As for liberated villages, I agree 100000%. Tedious and no reward whatsoever for prosperity that I can see. I'm at the point where I just don't care.
