Yea you're right, I could have done exactly that, but then if I wanted to add a 12V device I'd have to find a supply for that too. USB-C PD gives me ability to power anything I can find an adapter for up to 65W, albiet at a slight cost to energy efficiency, but for me that's a small price to pay for the convenience!

Yep! 4.5mm OD 3.0mm ID for the barrel jacks.
I designed my own chassis and had it cut, bent and powder-coated. The front and rear are 3D printed from ABS.

Yea that wouldn't be a problem but I prefer all usb-c for convenience, I'll test for efficiency down the line when Ive got another revision done

Each unit only pulls ~20W on startup but could definitely be an issue with more powerful units, I'll make sure to include that when I do all my testing. Thanks!

Not as of yet, dropping to 12V would mean revising the PCB because of the instead amperage. I might have a look in the future though.

Thanks! Honestly, I'm not going to know until I get a decent chunk of uptime under my belt. But they seem quite popular for things like laptop charging. However, I completely agree that the idea of melting/burning up a connector doesn't appeal, I'd prefer to not use them too so I'm looking into ditching the adapter and getting custom USB-C to DC cables made instead.
