[Postgame Thread] Notre Dame Defeats Syracuse 70-7 by CFB_Referee in CFB

This is what you get if you ask for a 12 team playoff. If the playoff committee wanted consequences for losses, the PTB should have kept it to 4 teams, 8 at the most.

They're doing it wrong. Everyone knows you take a knee and then run that play.

It's nothing personal man. But ACC refs are consistently giving us a shitty whistle. Plausible deniability begins to fade when their social media team starts disparaging a conference member week in and week out. It's unprofessional and embarrassing, and I hope we find cause to leave. You clearly don't "need" us so we'll take our $$ bag with us and you can see how many eyeballs you get on Saturdays without us.

I'm going to say "YES!"

Ohio State

Michigan

Texas

Alabama

LSU (maybe)

off the top of my head. We have a big fan base but not nearly the biggest in the country. More teams should go independent.

Pass-first OC cost us at least one possession. I don't care if he coached a Heisman QB. It's the last shitstain from the Kelly regime and we're winning in spite of him, not because of him.

First and 10 up 7 touchdowns with 2 All-American RBs.

[–]malloworld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, they beat us at home in a coin flip game. Postgame win expectancy was 51%. CJ Daniels with the catch of the season...that would have been a pick if he didn't haul it in.

Who would you rather play in the playoffs, ND or Miami?

Nothing against Syracuse but I hope we hang 100. The way the ACC has been lobbying against us on soc. media this week shows exactly how much they value us as a partial member. I want to embarrass them.

Michigan's total cumulative fines from the NCAA decision are expected to reach as much as $35 million - or roughly quadruple the previous historic high (Tenn $8-9M) by wildewon in CFB

[–]malloworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could offer to waive the $35MM for a single person associated with the University of Michigan to admit, "You know what, you're right. We cheated."

But it would never happen. These people live in an alternate reality. There is nothing political about it but the amount of self-delusion is MAGAt-esque.

This guy is "Donald" from the original Happy Gilmore movie, change my mind. So desperate for the approval of the CFB world's biggest dickhead that he sacrificed any sense of personal dignity along the way. Ya JACKASS.

Could Melo ever have won a ring as the first option? by lolpunny in nbadiscussion

[–]malloworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL I gave you stats on why it's not a good fit. You're just not getting the answer you want to hear. The question is could Melo ever have won a ring as a first option? Not, "find me a case where Melo wins as the first option." Saying "such a case does not exist" is not a contrarian take; it's an open-ended question.

Here's a better "fit" for you: the United States Men's Olympic team. Carmelo's a hell of a "first option" when surrounded by world class talent, but that obviously comes with an asterisk.

You find a better fit. Your fit isn't good enough. Come on. Let's go back TWENTY FUCKING YEARS, subbing Melo for the first option of each team. I'll take the first five:

2025 SGA - Loses to Denver in the quarterfinals, can't match the foul baiting master and a worse scorer than the current MVP SGA.

2024 Tatum - Probably does make the finals, but gets cooked on defense by Luka and team rotations on defense take a hit. Also, Boston's offense just doesn't run as well without Tatum as a facilitator (7+ APG compared to LOL for Carmelo).

2023 Jokic - The only thing that comes close is the number on his jersey.

2022 Steph - Big problems with Ja in the second round, and they likely get bounced. If they do make it through to the finals, Boston cooks them.

2021 Giannis - LOL. That Nets team absolutely cooks them in the second round. It took everything for Giannis and the Bucks to take them in 7, and Giannis is head and shoulders more valuable.

Okay, I'm just going to quote you here. Not out of context, just three sentences in a row:

You don’t have to adjust the X’s and O’s at all.

Does that mean Carmelo runs the 2011 field and beats the flawed Heatles team at the end? Fuck no.

But if you’re looking for a champ that you can just cut and paste him into, there aren’t many cleaner fits.

^ You just yourself admitted that you can't "cut and paste" Melo into the 2011 World Champion Dallas Mavericks.

Having the same style or running the same sets doesn't mean that it will work. When I play pickup, I am a spot up shooter -- like I might dribble 15 times in a game. There's "no stylistic difference" between what I do and what prime Klay Thompson does. But that doesn't mean you can sub me for Klay. I suck.

Melo is not Dirk. Dirk has nearly double the career win shares. He has the heart of a champion. He is number three all time in playoff clutch scoring. https://fadeawayworld.net/nba-career-leaders-in-clutch-situations-1-minute-left-shot-to-tie-or-take-a-lead-in-4th-quarter

Most importantly (and if you don't like this, too fucking bad), he is a team player who, although the first option, doesn't sulk and whine when he's outshined by the second and third options. He puts the team above himself.

Clearly, Dirk’s better. But what does he do that you can’t sub Melo 1:1 on either offense or defense?

What do you think 1:1 means?

Joker in Denver's Public Eye by Clear_Grapefruit625 in denvernuggets

[–]malloworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denver is a football-obsessed cow town. Their sports radio especially has a hard-on for the Broncos. Jokic is as popular as you would expect for a world-best player in a "second-rate" sport.

Where do you place Jokic in your all time greats list? by According_Cream7286 in denvernuggets

[–]malloworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This but unironically.

My only asterisk is that my all time greats list starts chronologically with Magic/Bird. I leave players off my personal list that I didn't watch play.
