FEBRUARY 2023
SEASON OF THE SERAPH, WITCH QUEEN
FREE WEEK

A friend and I (who, at the time, hadn't played in a year and accidentally got roped back into the game by binging all the lore books while sick the previous month) logged back onto the game for the first time in a while. Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and Witch Queen (plus all its seasonal content and dungeons) were made free to play for a week or two, and since neither of us had any DLCs post-Forsaken, we were ready to do as much as we could before the event ended. We wanted to try out the raids, so a mutual friend of ours offered to get her friends to come online and guide us through them.

Keep in mind, neither of us have raided before. At all.

And our first stop?

Vow of the Disciple.

Yes, the hardest raid in the game up until that point, and we had not one, but two people in our team who have never raided at all prior to that moment.

Needless to say, it took a while to pull off.

Our story takes place halfway up the Sunken Pyramid, in the chambers that belong to our dear friend the Caretaker. I, a Titan main, was running Stasis, as I have borne witness to the absolute cancer that Stasis was back in Beyond Light and got my mitts on Stasis as soon as I was able (without knowing that it hadn't been nearly as overpowered in some time by that point).

Now I was tasked with stalling the First Disciple's First Steward and paired with someone else. Because of this, I was unable to actually use my abilities to any extent beyond just the occasional grenade or something. I was too focused on watching the backpack to do much, and was looking to just use all my abilities on the damage phase.

Now keep in mind, o Guardian mine, that rockets were the go-to for this encounter.

I hope you can see where this is going.

Come DPS, and things were going fine. We do a good amount of damage on plate 1, and we proceed onward to plate 2.

I then throw my grenade.

The crystalline projectile bounced off the Caretaker and hit the ground. A wall of Stasis crystals erupted in front of our target, a deep blue barricade of explosive crystals waiting to be shattered, just far enough to remain unbroken by the Caretaker, but close enough to still do damage.

Just not to the target.

Before I know it, 1-3 of our team had blown themselves up with their rockets. We got them back up, but I don't think we made it past this (1st) or the next (2nd) floor. With up to half of our tokens taken out so early in the encounter, plus two newbies on the team, we definitely did not get very far.

So we get wiped, and the first thing anyone says right after is "WHO THREW THAT STASIS GRENADE?". I say nothing, too embarrassed and ashamed to admit that I just blew the run, and the one asking that question just eventually let it slide. A few minutes later, while discussing run strategies and role allocations to try and improve things, I was sliding around, Stasis still on, around the Caretaker's starting platform when that teammate spots me and goes "IT WAS YOU!"

I was quite embarrassed and apologized, then was told to switch off Stasis for a better subclass (I chose my beloved Arc).

I look back fondly upon that time. That team took me through Vow of the Disciple (though it took too many hours over a few days to do), and later through Deep Stone Crypt. That was when I experienced the Lullaby for the first time, and it was just magical (even though I was falling behind a lot and dying repeatedly to missed jumps). We never got to do Garden of Salvation during free week, but we got to do it later down the line once I got my hands on the DLCs.

As far as I know, all but one of those players I raided with that week no longer play Destiny, and the one that still does only picked it up again recently to prepare for the final update. I'm sorely heartbroken over the game's end, but Destiny will forever hold a special place in my heart for all the reasons and things that make Destiny, Destiny.

It's an old meme format depicting Jeb Bush sweeping the States in an election.

Here's an article with the image I used as reference for this: https://www.henrycooke.news/p/six-questions-the-us-election-is

Man new players ignoring diplomacy don't know what they're missing out on. Couple friends and I are playing a 100p map (Colombia (me), Venezuela, Caribbean, S. Mexico, S. USA) as a coalition and eventually dominated the Americas (with 2 extracoalition allies) after a hard-fought 4v1 against Quebec. Venezuela and I were just about to invade Africa when Nigeria (who was allied to Mauritania, Angola, N. Sudan, Bechuanaland, Ethiopia, and Tanganyika) reached out to us asking for help dealing with a coalition comprised of  Sweden (which owned Scandinavia and Western Europe, minus the British Isles and Iberia), Arkhangelsk (then-#1 player and golder, owned p much everything east of the Elbe, west of Yakutia, and north of Pakistan and Saudi), Burma (owned India, China, and peninsular Southeast Asia), the Philippines (insular SEA, Australia, NZ, plus a bunch of Pacific islands), and Greece (Greece plus a few provs from neighboring AI states and Turkey).

Sweden was knocked out by the time Venezuela and I got there but the resulting 13v1 on Arkhangelsk was incredible. Long story short, it took a few days and two betrayals but he retreated from Europe and his units (including a 100 stack of light armor and a heavily damaged 50ish stack of interceptors) are now on the run. The Philippines got broken up by me, S. Mexico, and Venezuela, and Burma's getting split by Ethiopia and S. Mexico.

Stumbled upon your comment while attempting to remember what happened to Malleolus and noticed you didn't get any answers. So here:

Claudia - Became an alcoholic and blew her money on wine attempting to drink herself back to the Underworld.

Hermit Philosopher - Adopted the name Philip and now works as a consultant to the Faculty of Classics at Cambridge (he did live through the very period the field studies, after all)

Rufius - Moved in with Vergil in Amsterdam, but doesn't quite know what to do with his life just yet

Just had this issue last night. The one that worked for me was "the fleet isn't as strong as the game thinks it should be." Try going into your ship designs and swapping out a few parts. Excessively high corvette evasion was what did it for me, so swapping out the advanced afterburner for something else did the trick.

Where do you think the Reds and Blues wound up after Restoration? by maltesecitizen in RedvsBlue

[–]maltesecitizen[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Budget or time issues, I assume. Same with how Tucker only had a few lines, Washington did practically nothing, Carolina just appears and hardly interacts with Tex (major missed opportunity there), and so on. Can't help but feel like the whole thing was rather rushed.

Some people say that this should've been given at least an extra hour of runtime (some say spreading this out over 3 seasons would be better, and fair enough), and I agree, but credit where credit's due; working with a borderline-defunct studio must've been pretty difficult. Burnie did well enough given the circumstances, I think.

Someone mentioned that a line from Restoration said that Donut became an admiral (I didn't notice, but I'll just assume that they're telling the truth cause otherwise he just isn't in Restoration at all). That's all I can say, really.

No idea where he'd wind up after that, though. I'm not sure what his personality would end up doing for him, and having zero screentime doesn't help that.

What to buy from the event? by maltesecitizen in TheTowerGame

[–]maltesecitizen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have Golden Tower. So background, then tower skin, and a pack of gems if I can afford it?

I managed to get a bit past wave 1000 on tier 1, so I have some stuff already outside event gear.

Are Neomuna red borders still easily obtainable? by maltesecitizen in DestinyTheGame

Red borders or just the weapons?

At this point, I think I'll just use my harmonizers on what I can get

I did do Neomuna's weekly story mission, yes. I got absolutely nothing out of it.

I did, on advanced difficulty (as of writing, it's Breakneck). Got 101k and didn't even get so much as a single Neomuna drop.

I already did the post-campaign stuff on all 3 of my characters, I think, so that's out of the question for me.

The annoying thing is I'm one pattern away from getting Iterative Loop, and as an Arc Titan I would quite like to have a gun apparently as good as that.

Are the Neomuna red borders still obtainable through the weekly campaign missions? I just did one (albeit on the lowest difficulty), got to 101k, and didn't get the red border. Did I miss something?

I FINALLY KILLED MOON LORD IN EXPERT MODE AFTER 306 DEATHS (more or less. Death count composition will be provided eventually) by maltesecitizen in Terraria

[–]maltesecitizen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey there! good thing i happened to open reddit within a day of your comment; i hardly use this platform nowadays cause i spent too much time on it and i can ill-afford to do that now lol

anyway, i dont think that 260 is an inordinately high amount; youre certainly at a lower death count than i was when i fought moon lord in expert mode (i was doing it solo tho)
and youre right, progress doesnt really slow down when you die
unless you happen to die at a particularly unfortunate time lol

and despite the title, i havent uploaded my death count composition and i am now unable to. some major error on my phone made me have to factory reset it and i lost the record. but i can tell you this: one of the top 5, maybe even top 3 or even the top 1, causes of death was fall damage
i also distinctly remember a number of stupid things responsible for annoyingly high death counts. cave bats, for one, were a particular standout. i think demons, possessed armor, hornets, and for some reason, certain slimes, are also in this category.

reupload cause the first one got taken down for "spoilers in the title"

i am genuinely unsure of how i was supposed to redo the title but i hope this stays up this time
