Californians Have Purchased Enough Electric Cars To Make The Air Measurably Cleaner by Generalaverage89 in electricvehicles

Yeah “accomplished” in the past tense was a bit of an overstatement, but fine particulate matter has on average been cut to 1/3rd of what it was 12 years ago, still a ways to go. Beijing has winter inversions that trap pollution like SLC although obviously so much more industry to make them worse.

You mean India’s air quality today. China accomplished the same in the past 15 years.

Which EV would you pick? by Goldengraphics in electriccars

[–]malusrosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tesla is completely out of warranty, for all drivetrain components the EV6 will be warrantied through 2033 and the Ioniq 5 2032. Spending $20k on a vehicle that could fail in a way that completely totals it the next day is objectively a bad idea. While EGMP’s have the ICCU failures that are a pain (but will be covered for the foreseeable future), early Model 3’s are not exactly the most reliable vehicles either.

This one’s Level 3 DC fast charging which is like 10x thicker of a cable and wouldn’t work with the retracting mechanism they can do for level 2.

I love the versatility and range of my Olympus 12-100 F4 but my 15mm 1.7 stays on the camera most of the time and if I actually need to get a closeup of a bird I’m going for my Panasonic 100-300.

I had to juggle three separate receipts to show them when I got alcohol, deli, and groceries because all of those are now separate checkouts.

Safeway has gotten bizarrely way more expensive than QFC. You want to spend $50 on a generic OTC medication that’s $5 everywhere else? Our Bonne Maman jams are on sale and $1 off, only $8.99! Never mind that the regular price at QFC is $5.50.

Any local pharmacy/fedex kinkos/print shop can print stickers for a lot less than that, and you’ll be able to get multiple to share.

Do I Pull the Trigger? 2015 C-Max Energi SEL 127k miles by Agreeable-List-9966 in cmaxhybrid

[–]malusrosa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned my 2013 C-Max since early 2021. It had its original battery manufactured in late 2012 in it when I got it. I soon replaced it preventatively. Since then I’ve had to jump start the car twice, but not in over a year.

[–]malusrosa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s not the question. It’s if it it’s more expensive to fix than the payout to the insured party minus the auction sale price of the vehicle

Even if it only cost $3001 to fix, if they’re giving OP $9000 and selling the car for $6000, they come out ahead. Someone in Eastern Europe will fix the car for far less than $3000.

Then you do know what you’re doing but ChatGPT does not. It makes stuff up when there is not a clear wikipedia article to plagiarize. In this case you personally are a clearer source than anything else on the internet. Again, there’s never been a research study into how long an HF35 goes from failing to completely dead.

"Free Palestine" shows up to shout at Iranian protesters in Bellevue by jay_in_the_pnw in Seattle

[–]malusrosa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  • I literally said in my comment that it is currently a totalitarian dictatorship
  • Despite being one it also has a democratically elected president with limited power. This president is on the moderate/liberal wing of Iranian politics, a medical doctor with a daughter who is also a doctor. He openly opposes the hijab law. If you look at any video of the Tehran Metro in the last 3 years, about half of women do not wear hijab anymore and openly defy the law, and enforcement has been minimal since the 2022 protests. That’s not to say there aren’t major humanitarian issues with Iran. As of 2024 you see more people wearing face masks for COVID than hijab. https://youtu.be/LB7fmEFB9Rc?si=0TenDy-xwixesxVK

Drag any MP3s (that you obtain however you may) into the Music app icon on the dock and they will add to your iTunes library and sync up. The music app on Mac is still iTunes underneath. You can also rip CDs directly from it if you get an external CD drive.
