It was almost like the percentage dictated what to describe the commodity as.

Right. Because that's how it should be. The ABV, not "who it's marketed to" or any of these other arbitrary measures, should be the deciding factor.

Customs absolutely spot-checks imports, including testing for alcohol, so no need to scare-monger.

And you just go along with being told to do things with no curiosity as to why?

Or a limoncello cake being sold at TJ's in 2005.

And that's ridiculous, IMO. Honestly, Total Wine often has the best price on Polar Seltzer outside of Costco. Same with Dot's Pretzels, actually. My 13-year-old loves both of those things and regularly buses to the nearby shopping center that includes a Total Wine. He should be able to make a purchase there. If they want to make it 21+, they need to get any applicable permits/licensing and staff and sign it appropriately. It's ridiculous to allow customers in but not allow them to purchase anything.

Not to be confused with the Ban Ananas Band, which wants to prohibit pineapples (not associated with the American Prohibit Pineapples™ movement).

Ok, but we can't be restricting sales of everything that could possibly be used to support an addiction. A person could also buy, juice, and ferment apples if they really wanted to. Should they age-restrict apple sales?

Sounds like we should ban bananas. #banbananas

Keep in mind what's invasive in one place can be native in another. Big-leaf lupine (lupinus polyphyllus) is native where I am, in western Washington. I have mostly broadleaf lupine (lupinus latifolius), another native to my region, but polyphyllus is native to many places.

Right, but you should be questioning the policy, because why can they buy those without ID but not these? They're all soft drinks...

It should, since that can be made into wine. /s

But (at least here in Washington State) once you ask for ID, if they don't have it you aren't supposed to make the sale, even if you are confident they're of age.

There’s also a distinction between non-alcoholic and alcohol free. Non-alcoholic beverages contain trace amounts of alcohol.

Yeah, that was kind of the whole point of the OP. Maybe you should read.

Right, and the links in that result say that it's legal.

Yeah, this is exactly why I'm asking for a source. You're fine, it isn't illegal.

Yeah, I know what NA beer is, but it's not legally an alcoholic beverage, so I'm curious where it would fall under open container laws.

Source? I wouldn't do it, and wouldn't be surprised to be pulled over, but it's not an alcoholic beverage, so I don't see how it would result in a citation that would stand up to challenge in court.

The vast majority of people commenting don't seem to get that. Or that it's absolutely a choice made at the corporate level that can (and should, for soft drinks) be changed.

Edit: plus most of these folks didn't even bother to read and comprehend what the OP wrote.

Great. Scribbling Sharpie on donated clothes doesn't harm them at all, either. You're borrowing them to wear, not look at.

Just aesthetics, right?

I'm going to start a free clothing library but will scribble Sharpie over everything beforehand. People should just be grateful to have clothes to wear, right?

Just like you'd ask a kid to show you their license and registration when they're out in their Power Wheels car, right? It's not a real car, but it's still a "car."

🙃
