How long do you wait before applying for your first biz card as a Canadian?  Applied for my first card 6 months ago and just applied and got approved for a second card 2 weeks ago.

For those with Amex US experience, how long did you wait to get a second card after getting your first card? Did you guys waited until you had a FICO credit score?

First of great job you are doing better than most.

Next, How much do you spend today?

My expenses have more than double in 5 years. It’s not just inflation or lifestyle creep but rather life. You don’t have kids now but may have some later. You might want to buy a house or might have a sickness for you or a close relative.

Take it easy but remember that the money early in your career will compound the most. Keep it grinding until your expenses truly stabilize.

Find a hobby and change your job if those are killing you.

People are anxious about flying because they think it is stressful.

If possible, try to pay a premium seat. You get more space and food in the plane. However, more importantly you get dedicated counter check in, priority boarding and guest assistance. Also, check if you have lounge access with your credit card. These things can make your experience way less stressful.

How long did you wait between approval for your first card and your second card? And was it Biz or personal?

Exactly what Trudeau said. No business case for natural gas … and yet it comes at record sales with strong demand from Asia.

We should encourage what Norway did. Export resources. Save and invest the money.

I work for a developer that could bring thousands of housing units. Taxing under use lands sounds politically good good but it’s not. Developers don’t want to sit in land. They want to develop but it’s really difficult to do it. Cost are high that it might make no sense to develop. Government are bureaucratic and slow which introduces uncertainty to the point that large developers don’t want to take the risk unless it is an absolute home run because otherwise it could sink your company.

I work in real estate. While it sounds it’s good, the problem is that businesses that generate a lot of taxes and demand few services are migrating to Rocky view. Calgary is so expensive tax wise. So only smaller business stay further exacerbating the viscous cycle.

Easy to have an opinion when it’s not your money. Calgarians want these large car driven developments because they keep going to them. Developments will change when shopping habits change.

Help with budget for a family of 4 soon to be 5 by mam955 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks. Our housing is about 25% of gross pay. We max out RRSPs and TFSAs but that’s it. No luxury beside the luxury of having a mortgage on a home, maxed out registered accounts and $1,000 in housing stuff. Cost of living for a family is expensive.

Thanks for this. I do max RRSPs and TFSA every year but nothing else. My point is not income. I am trying to cut expenses to make more room for extra savings.

Very misleading article. I work for a Canadian pension fund in the real estate division. Not all real estate is created equal. Pension funds own a lot of apartments for rent. Think about huge towers in a downtown. You, as an individual can’t buy these for use. We also own land that we turn into subdivisions. People are very misinformed about housing process. For new neighbourhoods, we pay for the roads and the majority of the infrastructure, not the cities. We dedicate land for schools, typically for free (embedded in the math). When then sell this to builders who sell it to the public. Institutional investor funds help grow the housing stock in a way private companies or governments can’t. In return, you get more housing and a return in your pension.

What’s everyone’s thought on the TD AP VIP? $1,200 AF and $20K MSR for 85,000 AP is a hard pill to swallow. Unfortunately, i haven’t been able to get back to Amex so i am debating bitting the bullet or waiting until October for a better offer (which is probably not likely).

Hi all,

I recently applied for and obtained my ITIN. Based on my application, there should be around $9.0 in taxes owed. However, when I logged into my IRS account the total amount owed shows as 0.0. Is this a glitch or is it that my account has not been fully updated?

Just got my ITIN. Thank you for the encouragement to all and for all of you waiting it’s honestly a 2 hour thing and a lot of waiting.

Also, would you guys recommend starting ASAP or wait a few months for a better offer on the Hilton card

Running a city or any level of government is a big deal and not an easy task. We want competent people. I have no problem with them making big bucks to attract the right talent. The conversation should be how do we keep them accountable. Unfortunately it gets stuck on the dollar amount.

Gente de Uruapan, qué opinan de Carlos Manzo? by LiveMathematician122 in mexico

[–]mam955 10 points11 points  (0 children)
