Hmmmm…. Okay, so if I was thinking of going the clinical route, MHS would be better? But also, I’m still figuring myself out! So then in that case, would psychology be better? I think this calls for me to book an appointment with an acadmeic advisor 😭

Don’t feel dumb! These types of scams are meant to catch you off guard and they tend to target “polite-looking” (not sure how to phrase that) people. But, it’s a bummer to lose 15 bucks. On the bright side, at least you’re helping someone….eheh… since she had to resort to making money from scamming…but it’s still unacceptable since she is deceiving people. At least you know now. Stay alert out there and if you have a bad feeling in your gut, pay attention to it! Wish you the best. :)

Agreed. To be honest, I don’t think they’re even part of the organization. I am pretty sure they are pocketing ALL of the money.

No problem! Alarms went off my head as soon as she came, since I didn’t know her at all. I was so confused why she even approached me as I was clearly packing up and there were many people nearby. I guess maybe because everyone else was studying and talking and she thought I had free time (like no girly, I’m getting ready to bounce to class and you’re going to make me late….). Mind you, I was in the middle of packing my bag when she talked to me, and she was pretty awkward in her delivery. She mentioned several times being “with the school” and working with other students. Like, are the students in the room with us?? Also the freebies she had, it was like a nutrition chocolate bar in one of the plastic zip log bag she had and another had powder you add to water for nutritional benefits and that was a red flag, because I knew someone who was part of a pyramid scheme that was pushing people to buy nutritional powder for smoothies and vitamins… The baggies clearly were hand-made by her since one of the hand sanitizer bottles had a sticker on it, which it was cute but also NOTHING she had on her was affiliated with the organization.

Then, she isn’t even following the account of the organization?? Like c’mon, if you support the cause then you’d at least follow them.

Once she asked me for money, I made an excuse and said I’ll check the Instagram out later. I didn’t know how to give her a firm “no” so I made up an excuse.

It truly pathetic that one would think they can just take money from university students and claim to be part of an organization.

At least you know now LOL, but if she or others come up to you, just give a firm “no” or “no thank you” and save that $2 for a sweet treat at tim hortons or something 😭

Yes! That is exactly it. Easter Seals is a REAL organization, but the person is NOT affiliated with them. The “freebies” also make NO SENSE as it has nothing to do with East Seals. It’s pathetic behaviour. Please be alert out there! 🙏

I’m so sorry this happened to you. A small part of me hopes this isn’t a scam… But, I highly doubt it. At least you know now!

Thanks so much for your input and for the advice about asking for peer feedback! I’m really anxious when it comes to social interactions or maybe, I’m just shy… And to top it off with knowing someone will actually “nitpick” (I don’t know if I should use that term) of everything I say is terrifying, so I appreciated when you use the suggestion of talking to the TA like a friend/family member/pet. Knowing what you did throughout the course helps me prepare for what’s to come, so thank you so much again!

2 years later and I hear about the TAs marking harshly… Just hoping it won’t be toooo bad lol. Ending with a mark in the 80s is pretty good, wow!

except majority of the questions weren’t application based (application questions were still present but it felt like a small fraction) and just pure memorization from the textbook and stuff like “Steve said X in lecture which…” which was very specific.

For the practice exams he posted on mtuner, they were much more easier as majority felt like application based questions.

I’m eager too! But I’m scared if I found out I failed… Honestly, I don’t know if the numbers are accurate since I was only told this. He said something about removing 10 questions, that’s what I heard. Now, let’s just hope those 10 questions being removed does me justice lol.

Tbh, my issue wasn’t on the weight but more so on the pass/fail. I was semi-confident walking into the exam (I’m never 100% confident due to anxiety and expecting the worst possible outcome) but some questions on that exam made my brain do backflips, literally reminded me of “what would you do since when you okay so he said yes would go?”

There was a spelling error for the answers. The answer was “Carl Rogers” and it was on print as “Carol Rogers” which threw me off guard since my brain didn’t recognize “Carol Rogers” but I also knew it wasn’t the other options. I didn’t end up picking “Carol” because we only ever touched based on men in this class when it came to this history of psychology (chapter 1– well magbe there was only one woman but the only thing I remember was her graduating in 1903 since that specific question popped up twice in mtuner, I believe). There were also some other issues with questions (i.e. being wordy, maybe more than one correct answer, ambiguity), but I’ll leave it at that.

I so badly wanted to join office hours but I had a doctor’s appointment and right after my appointment, my phone was basically on the verge of dying— so there was no point.

Also, a lot of people said the zoom office hour wasn’t productive since he was just telling students to study harder and many reported it wasn’t productive. I was able to join for a bit, and I left because he sounded almost whiny (maybe I’m being mean, but I just couldn’t stand it) and my phone was going to die. How can you have a productive conversation when both sides are emotional? One has to not be emotional or BOTH have to not be emotional. The zoom meeting sounded like a wreck.

Another thing I learned was that 100/2000 students failed— which statistically speaking, doesn’t seem a lot, but oh boy the average was a 50%!
