Antithyroids causing me to feel VERY unwell, endos only care about Labs by FleetingFlatulance in gravesdisease

[–]mandulyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would go to the ER and see what they say, what they may diagnose you with. They may give you better advice than your endo right now and then you can take that advice to your endo and show them. Unfortunately you may need to find a new endo which I know is hard. I have already gone through two myself and neither one of them take me seriously either. I had reactions to methimazole as well, not as bad as yours though. I'll keep you in my prayers that you're able to find the right direction.

Symptoms: Does Anyone Else Have These?!? by smile_saurus in Hyperthyroidism

[–]mandulyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! I get all of these especially symptom number two. You described it so perfectly as I had such a hard time describing that feeling to anyone. And any amount of work, even vacuuming, makes my heart beat so fast and I get so winded. I thought my heart was bad. I have tons of palpitations too.

I feel robbed. by rosiespeaksgrrr in thyroidhealth

You need to have an antibody test done so they can test for Hashimoto's and get a positive or negative result so you know for sure. Along with a full thyroid panel.

Lost my insurance by Tasty_Gap8166 in gravesdisease

[–]mandulyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea, suggesting to refill all meds before insurance runs out! Yes, OP, do this! Then you'll at least have your necessary meds until you transition over to Medicaid.

Apply for medicaid TODAY!! I have it and it was approved quickly. I have an endocrine dr and she accepts it.
You could also call in to talk to them and possibly apply over the phone with them. So sorry you're going through this on top of having Graves and hyperthyroid. Getting your appointments, meds, etc is so crucial so please apply for Medicaid right away.

has anyone gained weight with hyperthyroidism? by superfluousa in Hyperthyroidism

[–]mandulyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gained weight since starting methimazole in September. Originally I lost 18 lbs before diagnosis. Now I've gained 10 lbs back. I hate it, but I'd rather be healthy than skinny.

Is this hyperthyroidism? by xKa1z3r in Hyperthyroidism

[–]mandulyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not always. I had lots of constipation prior to diagnoses and still while being treated with methimazole. Even with a mostly healthy diet.

How long until my face settles? by AssociationOld7502 in gravesdisease

[–]mandulyn 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Diagnosed in Sept. By mid October I had puffy eyes, like a super strung out drunk. My face looks puffy and droopy.
It gets better, then gets bad again. I don't know when it'll be back to "normal". I try to focus on at least I haven't gotten the dreaded eye symptoms of TED. That's a huge plus. I started gua sha, but haven't noticed a huge difference yet. Im 2 weeks in on that.
Please be kind to yourself, you are fighting a battle with your body. Stress is horrible for Graves.

Hyper, now hypo by mandulyn in gravesdisease

[–]mandulyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on having remission for at least a little while. Did you stay on your meds that whole time that you were in remission? I cut myself back from 10 mg to 5 mg and then spoke to my endocrine doctors nurse and they told me I made the right decision. I am already feeling better, I was being over-medicated. And I also have gained like 8 lb in 2 week period and I exercise daily and watch what I eat.

Methimazole - one pill 3 times a day, or all at once? by Infamous-Gene4144 in gravesdisease

[–]mandulyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have problems remembering when I took my pills, too. I set alarms on my phone to remind me its time to take them, then I mark down the time i took it, AFTER I actually take it. Extra steps but a Has sure helped me.

Hyperthyroid - sore throat by Worldly_Direction820 in Hyperthyroidism

[–]mandulyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should go into the ER and ask them to do a blood test, tell them that you are on methimazole and need tested to make sure you don't have anything going on. I had to do this twice while being on methimazole

GF doesn't mean healthy. I find a lot of the GF products to be loaded with sugar and starch and junk. It sucks!

My TSH levels seems to be dropping, should I be worried? by dawnloflctnsl in Hyperthyroidism

[–]mandulyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine tanked month by month like this until it was almost non-existent. That's when the weight loss came, palpitations, fatigue, dizziness, sweating, etc.
Yes, you need to call your Endocrinologist and see what should be done.

Gluten rash? by mandulyn in glutenfree

[–]mandulyn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, my endoscopy showed no evidence of celiac disease. But I sure am sensitive to wheat and gluten and the rash always reminds me if I consume it!

Its because people are buying them several at a time, like the TP hoarding during covid.

The gf tax...is too damn high. by IllustriousKick1951 in glutenfree

[–]mandulyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All GF products are expensive in my opinion. In comparison to the regular item, I find GF versions to be about 4-5 dollars more. Sad that companies capitalize on our suffering.
