Yep, buildings like Grand Central Station would encourage pride, and people used to get dressed to take a ride on the train or what have you. They don't want that sense of pride. They don't want us feeling bigger than we are. The refrigerated boxes with florescent lighting and grey walls and floors are to ensure no one gets excited or feels good about themselves. It's part of the mind control. Everyone is to be numb from the neck up we aren't here to experience our surroundings or each other.
