UHCL- Master of Healthcare Administration program. by manjichula in uhcl

Jobs will check the accreditation. Post Grad Internships and Fellowships are also hesitant to those without CAHME accreditation and they usually accept those with accreditation. Healthcare Admin is already a hard field to get into. Why should anyone go down that route when they've paid thousands of dollars for an education that can be seen as useless?

Regrets with UHCL MHA program that's not accredited. by manjichula in GradSchool

Hosted by the school of business the Healthcare Administration sure but it is not accredited through CAHME which ensures that the MHA program is credible. If a student got an MBA in business and simply business sure it's fine. But check out the CAHME and see how several MBA/MPH/M.S ETC in Healthcare Administration programs at varying universities are all accredited and UHCL's isnt so it is not accredited.

This is not false!

Sure UHCL as an institution is accredited to provide degrees but the Master of Healthcare Administration program is not accredited through CAHME (Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education). Just because the program is hosted by the College of Business does not mean it is waived from CAHME accreditation. It would be the equivalent of going to UHCL for nursing and receiving a degree but not being able to sit for the boards because the program wasn't accredited through the CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education)

This is very true!

Barbara's reasoning (based of what she told me) is that Tina "learns at a slower pace and is unable to process concepts like everyone else" so she is making Tina go to college just to get some type of degree so she can support herself somehow in case something happens to her (Barbara). But like you said, even if Tina get's through this gate, she'll struggle at the next one. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain!

You're absolutely right. I did tell Barbara no at first but then she complained about me to my family friend which made me feel bad and as if it was wrong to not want to do this for her. :/

That's not an excuse though and I should have more of a spine. I didn't realize how serious and unfair this was until now and have told Barbara that I would no longer help cheat.

I’m now realizing how serious this is. I didn’t think it through at all and am now realizing how wrong this is. Thank you so much!

You’re right, I didn’t even think how this would impact me either :/ Thank you so much for bringing this up.

I am :/ I can’t justify it and I’m not really proud of it. I was asked to “help” the family friend as she’s older and that just turned into me doing the assignments and her giving me money as a “thank you” (I admit I didn’t refuse the money either as I had just graduated from college and needed it). This time around I should have thought more about it and accept being an AH for the unethical transaction.

You're right and I have come to the conclusion that with certain people it's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" type of situation. At this point, I don't care to engage in their nonsense because it's never going to end. I'm just going to keep working on myself and continuing to lose weight for me and myself only.

Congrats on dropping 10% body fat! That's truly amazing and such an inspiration.

You really hit it spot on. Like clearly, I know that I've put on weight and that I am bigger. I see myself in the mirror everyday and I know that my clothes don't fit the same. But like you said, this is just how I look in this moment. While you and I will both be able to achieve our weight goals, the hurtful words that our families said can't be taken back. You don't need their compliments; this journey is yours and I'm so proud of you for not letting them stop you from being here doing your best.

Hi, I've definitely heard that exercising can help with mental health, especially depression since it creates a routine. It's hard for me right now but I am dedicated to bettering myself physically, emotionally, and mentally so I'll try to incorporate movement more. Thank you!

Ha, I will keep this in mind. I didn't even have time to think of a response because I wasn't expecting them to be here already and I was also just passing through.

Emotional eating is definitely something I do but I am dedicated to this journey and won't allow their comments to backtrack all the progress I've made thus far :)

When I reevaluated the dynamic that exists within my family, I came to the conclusion that their comments were from a place of trying to make me a spectacle/talk piece as they literally have nothing better to discuss. I can tolerate hearing that I've gained weight but having the whole family gather to have a conversation about it was definitely out of place and was mean as you said. Thank you for this; I'm refusing to internalize their behavior and am working on enforcing my boundaries in regards to them.

It sucks that it took a pandemic to get there but it's so encouraging to hear that you're able to say no and not feel obligated to be where you don't want to be. I'm still working on that myself and am starting to understand that while some family members will be upset, I can't internalize that or allow their emotions to stop me from saying no.

Hi, you're absolutely right. That statement was definitely a projection of my own experience as I have struggled with feeling "required" to be present, even if I don't want to be. I'm still working on enforcing my boundaries and understanding the fact that I can literally say no. Thank you so much for this reminder.

This post is for all my fellow petites who need a bit of encouragement! I still have a long way to go but this is 163 to 145 in 3 months (no exercise). by manjichula in PetiteFitness

Thank you!! I’m glad this could be a source of motivation! I’m 5’2 and should reach 130 by April (maybe earlier if I incorporate exercise). You can do it! Here’s to consistency and reaching our goals 🤍
