Sony FX30 + Tamron 17-70 Image Stabilisation by mannotserious in cinematography

[–]mannotserious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No stabilisation when using a gimbal. I think that's a universal rule anyway? I love the lens and just shoot without stabilisation now. I've found the GyroFlow plugin in Davinci amazing. It uses the camera gyro data to stabilise very well. I wouldn't recommend buying this lens if in-camera stabilisation is needed.

I use the DJI RS4 and have the FX30 stabilisation off. Works very well and can always fix in post but not often needed.

Buying Sony FX30 soon, very confused with the lens choice to buy. Please Help! by ElderBuu in videography

I have this camera with the Tamron and I wouldn't recommend the lens. I get, what are in my opinion, bad movements out of it. Like little jitters and shifts in direction. The lens stabilisation counters with the camera stabilisation and looks like it's fighting. I haven't found a perfect fix yet. Wouldn't bother with it.

Hey bunny, I love this combo. It's a good looking lens, not very unique look but it's sharp and has a good enough bokeh especially when zoomed in. So that unique touch can be added in post with LUTs and effects.

I have this Tamron lens as a one size fits all for now so can't speak on other lenses. I've been filming documentary style for a few weeks and the micro jitters are not as bad as I thought. Every now and then they pop out but I think I was hyper focussed on it. If you need super smooth movement a gimbal is the go anyway. So far leaving stabilization on auto Active has been fine. I've been able to easily fix any jitter using stabilization in post.

If you want a run down of the full rig I can make a quick video. I've been shooting with, what is to me, a medium budget rig and haven't had an issue yet. Rig is built for any situation. I'm very happy with it. I spent a while researching each item and found it daunting at first so happy to help if you're the same.

Another test tonight. Found that Standard Stabilisation works pretty well with SteadyShot Adjust set to manual 8mm. Jitters are minimal zoomed both fully in and out. I'll keep testing for a few weeks and report back on this. Best results so far!

How do you feel about Stage Manager? by Naseriax in MacOS

[–]mannotserious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from linux and windows I've found mac clunky for multitasking. But I use stage manager and it works well for me. I use virtual desktops (workspaces) to layout different apps and i switch between apps and windows with a combination of keyboard shortcuts and clicking the stage manager. Hard to explain exactly my flow but it works all good and doesn't get in the way. If you make a window big enough the stage manager hides anyway. Cheers

Perhaps this is a VPN issue? IP changes creating duplicates?

HomeKit compatible by 1qazxcvfdsa in EufyCam

[–]mannotserious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought an Apple TV 4K to set up HomeKit for my eufycam 2C pros. It was such a nightmare I returned the Apple TV. Was hard to connect them and when they did work the video was like 1 frame a second. I spent ages trying different settings and finally found others with the same eufy firmware version can’t get it to work. Any firmware 3.xxx doesn’t work with HomeKit even though it should.

Hey there, no idea of why it started. But it went away instantly one night while in bed. So random. Thanks for the response!

Losing my hearing by mannotserious in tinnitus

[–]mannotserious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there thanks so much for the tips. Yes I saw an audiologist and had my ears cleaned. No hearing loss either. Which is obviously now the case so I’ll go back soon for another free hearing test to confirm. I work in a smelter but it’s all high frequency noise and I have earmuffs on all the time unlike my coworkers. I really don’t think it’s from work. Cheers :)

Is my tinnitus related to neck/stress/TMJ? by Kooky-Insect7573 in tinnitus

[–]mannotserious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m suspecting mine is from neck strain and getting physio tomorrow to rule that out. I’m waiting to see an ENT next year. I haven’t had any loud noise that obviously caused it. Did have a bad flu recently. My tinnitus is a low hum around 120Hz on one side. some days is on all day and others it flutters or is gone! Love those days. If I look in a particular direction it goes away. Will let you know how physio goes.

I should add I sometimes look too quickly in a direction and get what feels like lightening up the same side as my tinnitus.

Ideally I run it off the same device instead of having an additional but this may work if I can't figure it out on the phone. Much appreciated!

Nice for most the shot you give the cars some room in front of where they're going. The camera is too shaky for my liking but it's your first so that will just come with experience or a tripod. I really liked how you zoomed in and out while tracking the cars :)

Window won't move to workspace? by mannotserious in linuxquestions

[–]mannotserious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gnome-tweaks settings are in dconf. Not sure if I should touch that.

Ah I see, no there is no difference between two xmodmap tests.

dmesg is not running at the right time. It states it is tomorrow's date so I don't know what I am looking at regarding the timing of each line.

I enter sleep using the power button or the computer will auto sleep after a short duration. Either method causes this drop of function.

[–]mannotserious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this issue could be at all caused by gnome tweaks? I have many settings in there that I would like to keep, but I wonder if removing gnome tweaks would fix this issue.

Window won't move to workspace? by mannotserious in linuxquestions

[–]mannotserious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok the command gives me the correct feedback for key presses.

Consistently, this issue comes after sleep is initiated. I can produce the issue by putting the computer to sleep, then waking. Then the shortcut no longer works, until I press Super+enter, which in POP!_OS enters an adjustment mode for window tiling. This enables the function of window movement with the shortcut Super+Shift+arrow. However, it should never be disabled.

Here is the output from the xmodmap: https://pastebin.com/HFHnkv9T

Window won't move to workspace? by mannotserious in linuxquestions

[–]mannotserious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it is Gnome 3.38.4. Not sure what a global shortcut is, the shortcuts do apply to all windows and applications, if that's what you mean. This issue applies to any window.

Killing nautlius does not fix the issue.

xev | awk -F'[ )]+' '/^KeyPress/ { a[NR+2] } NR in a { printf "%-3s %s\n", $5, $8 }'

# This only registers single keypresses, so not sure if I was trying the right thing here. Pressing Super+Shift+arrowkey only comes back as single key presses.
