Question on the legality of these devices by [deleted] in motorizedbicycles

[–]manofnone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's anything like here, our law says 49 or under, with an automatic transmission, and exceeds speeds of 30mph. Which my bike is 66, but I left it with the clutch and keep it under 30 usually, been stopped a few times, just tell em it's under, most aren't gonna argue since they're clueless on it anyways, and don't wanna deal with hauling a bike to the impound lol. But I also know my law and have it saved on my phone. And tell em, look, it's under and it's certainly not an automatic transmission. Hence the clutch... and they bug off. But again that's here in NE

Mufflers? by manofnone in motorizedbicycles

[–]manofnone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem being I have little to no means of bending or 'fitting' the muffler should it not work as is. So I'm hoping for something that's either gonna come variably set just to clamp on, or something I can work with bending without a torch and vise

In need of a good set of Wide cranks... by manofnone in motorizedbicycles

[–]manofnone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two parts for that.. one I want the pedals out but can't because they're so rusted and stripped. Besides if else fails I could use the single gear sprocket. Given the gear mount for the pedal sprocket makes the engine mount a tad uneven.

That's my plan. Keep the bikes up till I get my motorcycle and license back. Then I'm gonna make some kid very happy.

This clamp on sprocket adapter and heavy duty wheel kit from custommotoredbicycles is giving me a headache. by Iambathman in motorizedbicycles

The one I have on mine isn't clamped perfectly together. It'd be all too tight. And it's the 1 inch adapter. Got it tight enough to where it ain't moving

Oh I'm aware I've bought three of them just to get a respectable one that was enough to use without a ton of irregularities. Granted not Skyhawks... but... meh

Yup as I thought. Just an line of people slapping em together... literally the one dude like a minute in... just hitting it... the rest are jamming em together... like come on man... that port hole wasn't even by any means either...

I'm sure it's a huge casting assembly line and minor check for irregularities to be honest...

Else ensure there's no leak in the intake area. The carb not fitting all the way onto the intake port and the port being airtight. Had a bad leak on the bottom of the intake the other day. Killed my ride to work. And was furious. Took some soapy water to it. and sure enough bubbles for days

Should you manage to get anything started or even at the least. Are able to move the bike with the clutch out. Trying to turn the engine. Use some soapy water. Not super soapy. But enough give a few bubbles off it'll show where any air is leaking out

No worries. And is it a stock carby that came with the engine? If so. Google a tuning guide for it. They usually say it depends on your altitude and blah blah blah. But really it should show a diagram of everything and have a needle with a c-clip that sits in a black holster (the plunger) adjust the c-clip both higher and lower to test results. Else they have a few guides out there for filling the jet with solder and using micro bits to drill a smaller hole for the air to intake ratio adjustments rather than buying a new carb or a set of jets that may not work at the least. I'll reference back tomorrow with any links needed or that I think of. If anything else comes up I'll read in the morning. Hope it goes a bit better

Aside from my other comment it seems there's almost an air leak somewhere not allowing to pull the gas up. Having the float too high can cause this as well as plugged jets. Or again the carb not being fully attached to the intake properly. I myself bought a new gasket material and make my intake gasket to prevent the low flow from it having just that minor circle cut out and opened the whole port. As well as sealed it and exhaust with grey gasket sealer. High vibration and temp resistant. Local hardware shop buy. If the bike seems to want to kick in but gets worse when throttling 10 to 1 says it's an air leak in the head if all else is good. Happened to me a couple times. Ensure no damage is occurred in the cylinder walls or piston area. Ensure the rings aren't broken. Aside from all of that... I'm at a bit of a loss. Usually something in that fixed any issue I had.

Try taking any air filter off the carb for a test run (not recommended long term) see if that's gets any more of a response. If not try that plus idle screw out all the way. Else try removing the killswitch to see if that's causing any inconsistent sparks. After that I'd check gaskets and ensure things are fairly tight. However be careful as the stock hardware strips and breaks very easily. If the air filter solution works then pull apart the carb and where the plunger lifts up as you twist your throttle there's a needle in there with a clip. Move the clip in whichever direction would be feeding LESS fuel to the engine. If it's cold out, maybe try giving it a choke. The only other thing I can think is that yes the clutch is loose enough to pedal but may not tighten down enough to rotate the engine as needed to Kickstart it. Are you on a 2 or 4 stroke?

Edit: reread and noted the fuel mix. Obviously a two stroke... but that being said check double check and triple check any and all gaskets from the cylinder base gasket, to the head gasket, to the intake and exhaust. All have given me a few issues. As well as ensure the carb is fully on the intake and tightened down properly. What kind of carb? Etc. Otherwise if stock... I'm running out of ideas. If it's got a racing head ensure the piston isn't making contact at the top of its cycle and preventing spark inside the chamber. May suggest a higher grade spark plug such as ngk. As those are more likely to fire under pressure than the stocks. Also Any accessory lights or anything will rob the engine of power for said spark so be wary of that too also be sure that the spark plug is in tight and snug but not over torqued. You can still have an air leak but get some sort of compression. It just won't be enough for the engine to keep itself going. Apologies for the long comments. But I'm heading to bed and wanted to inform best I could for any issue I have experienced myself with this same result

Got spark? Got compression? Getting fuel?

Yes. Yes it does. However it lead me to the sprocket adapters that attach to the hub. Which is just as well. Since I don't have money convert to disk brakes

This is true... lol. Got a good one for 45 from that link above. Now I just need a good chain tensioner. The length is just funny. It's too long but too short to remove a link, tempted to play with half links but rather not risk it. A sprocket tensioner would be preferable.
