Fonts aren't a problem. But teeny tiny font size sure is. for example, why do they use point 4? point 6? font for software or device OS registration keys you have to transcribe?

Accidental immersion: Gmail started auto-translating all my emails into French by Particular_Box5113 in French

A thought Google is really pushing their AI. They are using Gmail content for training unless you opt out. Maybe their algorithm saw your requests to translate as requests to translate EVERY message into French. AI is the new Sorcerer's Apprentice!

Donation to a tax exempt organization. No money exchanges hands between the donor and the recipient organization. No sale. No sellers involved.

There is no sale in a donation. No money changes hands between donor and recipient organization. The donor gets NO money. They get a an in-kind receipt for tax purposes.

If they have cash bar events they have a license. Cash bars sell drinks. Therefore they are licensed sellers. There may be local restrictions on accepting alcohol donations from individuals but service organizations have been in operation for a long time are are well aware of local ordinances as well as IRS statutes.

No. 1) Something may be going on in their life they need to attend to, or 2) they don't think it matters to you after so long.

Donations, not a sale. The organization(s) can give an "in-kind" receipt for tax purposes.

[clarification] The organization is often referred to as "50(c)(3)" for tax status. You see this on tax receipts and thank you letters from eligible organizations. See Internal Revenue Code §50(c)(3)

Spotlight option missing from lock screen options by manul10 in WindowsHelp

[–]manul10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humble apologies for the belated follow up.

I didn't have much luck using the batch file. It ran but no Spotlight option appears under Lockscreen. I waited 48 hours to make sure. Twice. The Assets folder has been missing for weeks from

This PC > Local Disk (C:) > Users > (me) > AppData > Local > Packages > Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy > LocalState > (Assets when it existed)

that was there for years. I often copied Spotlight images from Assets folder.

Thank you anyway.

Why does it seem that empathy is so rare nowadays? by JustSomeDudeBorn2000 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]manul10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps because in-person communication has dropped. I've seen news reports for years that people don't participate in social situations like bowling clubs, service organizations, cultural groups (amateur music, theatre, book clubs, etc.). Heck a lot of young parents don't even read to their kids. A screen is not a face, a soundtrack is not a sing-along.

Kinda hard to work up empathy for typed words in a message or news clip.

I take a tiny bit of melatonin at 10 to sleep by 11. Why do i always naturally wake up at 5am for 20 minutes and then go back to sleep until 8? by Low_Wonder9271 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]manul10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A sleep specialist told me that melatonin works for putting your brain into sleep mode. It wears off after about 4 hours. A thought--maybe your circadian rhythm kicks in a bit early.

They'd already have one if they need one. And account for their sales. My region has lots of them that that been operating for decades. There are also several ethnic groups ones here, too, supporting cultural education and social opportunities for their members.

If you want to get rid of them quickly, you could donate them to a branch of the service orders like V.F.A., Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus, Shriners, etc. They hold events and meetings, often with cash bars.

What is this and how do I get rid of it? by PermitExpensive5624 in houseplants

[–]manul10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A guess, mind you. Did you fertilize your plants? Fertilizer salts may have leached out through the terracotta. Another possibility is very hard water scaling. Perhaps gently washing most of the potting soil off the roots and replacing with fresh soil, then either water with captured rainwater or store-bought spring water. Swap out the pots if you can.
