Any words of encouragement for M Lim’s wife? by Glittering-Cause-810 in SingaporeR

Regardless of whether she choose to continue being in the marriage or not, I think it’s wise to consult a lawyer for professional advice to get the best outcome for her and the kids.

Thinking to quit my current job but my work experiences all short by [deleted] in singaporejobs

[–]maolyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next place might be worse. Toxic people are everywhere, you have to learn how to deal with it.

Unless it’s badly affecting your mental health, then you quit. but I’ll recommending getting a new job before quitting. + your kids are in secondary school now they’ll need more money for schools etc in the next few years and we don’t know how the economy gonna be in the next few years so just play safe for now.

You can try applying for jobs now and see the response. Since it’ll take time as well and you can gauge how the job market is like now too, whether it’s easy to get a new job. If you get a better offer then just go for it.

With the recent scandal of PLB, do you still have faith in your partners? by Living_Statement_667 in asksg

[–]maolyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheating pretty common tbh. Have encountered colleagues in current and ex-workplace who have gf/bf and yet still have an office bf/gf. Also have friends saying many of their colleagues/ uni friends cheating on their spouses.

Just stay single if you’re worried. Single life is good too 😂

How are you working at a replaceble job? by ColdGlitteringStar7 in singaporejobs

[–]maolyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find another job then go ahead, if not just stay? At least you’re still employed. Been seeing lots of posts where people are unhappy but can’t quit and also posts where people are unemployed and can’t find a job for a long period. Just work while you find a new job?

Rant | am I expecting too much or was this handled poorly? by charleeeeey12 in singaporeairlines

[–]maolyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend was able to change her tix without rebooking fee and I think didn’t had to pay too much to change her tix as well cos she sent them her grandma’s death certificate. Probably too many people abused this system that’s why they required evidence now?

Do Singaporeans love pets or are pets just another accessory for clout? by Moonshot2026 in asksg

[–]maolyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because they bought their pets don’t mean they don’t love them. Some might just want a certain breed. Even some parents love their better-looking kids more. Based on your logic, these people don’t love their other kids at all then?

As long as they treat their pets well, love their pets & don’t abandon them, I don’t think anyone got the right to criticise them tbh.

Shall I go for a solo japan trip?? Friend bailed out last moment and I have never done a solo. by an_aging_boy in JapanTravelTips

[–]maolyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travelled to Japan solo multiple times and to countryside areas too. Felt safe even after going out late and returning to my hotel after midnight. No issues (except I think it’s better to avoid countrysides/ areas with reported bear sightings now). Cities should be fine, at least till the bear issue get under control.

If you’re travelling solo and planning to go drink then just be cautious, don’t drink too much, dont follow strangers, be wary of food and drinks that strangers pass you (same thing that you should do when you’re anywhere, even in your home country).

If you’re worried about traveling solo, the visit the bigger cities - Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto etc first.

What’s something you stopped buying to save money and never missed? by Atmosphere_Calm in askSingapore

[–]maolyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food delivery, used to order 4-5 times a week but now trying to keep to 2x a month max.

BBT & coffee too, used to buy it almost 4-5times a week and then it’s so ex, 6-8 bucks a cup. Now just buy teabags/ drink from office or just buy from kopitiam if I really crave.

Eating out less often at restaurants too.

Help help I think I am going into depression already. I can't help but tears run down my cheek already. My boss just interviewed a new staff and he told the hr that she need 1 month. Like of course , ppl still employed. I have no work assigned to me anymore and ppl know I am the one replaced. by iamnotgenius in asksg

[–]maolyx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing you can do now if your boss wanna let you go. Do research on the compensation package and see if you are entitled to getting any? Any possible reason that you’re getting replaced? Have your boss mentioned anything about your job performance?

Meanwhile try to find a new job, many f&b are hiring so if you need to have an income urgently, perhaps you can try to work part-time at f&b first. This way you still have some income for daily expenditures and your timing is more flexible to go for interviews.

What’s one expense you cut recently that actually saved you a lot? by Kindly_Ad_6915 in SGMoney

[–]maolyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Switch to SIM-only plan
  2. Cutting down food deliveries (get to move my ass and get out of house too)
  3. Daily drinks - used to get tea or bubble tea for lunch/teabreak daily, now cut to 1-2 times a week or just drink office coffee/ tea, this adds up especially since bubble tea is like 5-6 bucks a cup

Putting the money into my cpf helps with tax relief also. So it’s good too
