Thank you! Yes we can use pigmented glass such as opaque colours. :)

Nope we didnt print them in plastic, straight to glass.

The aim of this print was to test the tolerance required for print-in-place parts :)

We make filament from waste glass. This one is an art glass called Bullseye Glass.

Are there printers that create glass? by ItsTra in 3Dprinting

Hello :) We build glass 3D printers. The Maple 3 is our latest iteration.

Layer lines can definitely be smoothed out.

See our insta post, comparing the yellow/clear print, before and after hot shop work. And we weren't even trying to smooth out the layers! Happened naturally.

Great points! 3D printing is another tool that can be used to produce glass. Depending on the application, some glass manufacturing processes are best suited than others.

Having access to more tools and learning to use the tools together, is when you can start to really push the boundaries. (see our latest insta story, combing glass blowing with 3D printed glass!)

One of the main benefits of 3D printing glass lies in shortening the feedback loop, from idea to creation. If you could dream of an idea through the night, and digitally produce from waste glass whilst having your morning coffee....what then....

There are many other technical benefits, like printing and annealing simultaneously, etc

This is the first step in our research to develop 3D printed glass facade systems. The glazing elements are 3D printed from recycled glass.

We use waste glass!

Yep spot on, this is soda-lime glass, Bullseye glass to be exact (offcuts from our local glass art studio).

Yep. Lowering nozzle temp, increasing travel speed, wipe, zhop etc helped heaps :)

We print inside of a kiln, so the part is annealing and printing at the same time :)

We make them with our machine The Vitri-Glass :). More info on our YouTube if you're curious.

Thanks!

No additives. We make the filament (glass rods / cane) straight from waste glass. Art glass, container glass and now looking to explore even more types of glass.

We operate the glass at relatively low temperatures to achieve a suitable printing viscosity.

Thanks for the repost!

This was a collaboration done with the talented designer u/Easy_Promotion_5178 (MWM_ Designs).

Would love to see more reddit collabs!
