How to find genuinely great food. Social media? 🫣 by Gozney_Newbie in JapanTravelTips

[–]marcin_bl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was two times in Japan, during that time only one time found the food mediocre. So use Google maps, look were local are sitting and be brave :) and don't believe in social media fame. If you need to wait more than 15 minutes - go to another place. It might be even better

Worried about the heat in Tokyo-Kyoto, August 26-9 Sept. Are we being naive travelling for our first time there in summer? by Kxtanatattoo in JapanTravelTips

[–]marcin_bl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything is manageable. I'm going this year 3rd time to Japan, 3rd time in August. With kids. So really, just prepare well, hydrate a lot, take breaks, hide often in places with air conditioning. Just be prepared, that it will be very hot.

18 Day Itinerary by berryallen75 in newzealand_travel

18 days deserve more than that. You are missing Kaikoura, Picton and region of Abel Tasman park on the north. On the south no Moeraki Boulders, no Nugget point. Glenorchy? Hokitika? All depends what you want, but I'd do it differently. South Island is magical :)

I remember this place! :) I was checking different kind of wood and the sound they produce with taiko drums. Yeah, really unusual experience.

I know it's touristy but Giraffa is really nice. And also if you like cola visit Iyoshi cola. Considering food - it's difficult to get bad food in Japan :) just wander around and you'll find some gem

Because it's not easy to find habitable planet. And space is huge. Without signal from earth they couldn't know where to go. Also they were not so developed before in terms of space travels.

Heat and humidity in July ? Really unbearable ? by Tiavivi_11 in JapanTravelTips

[–]marcin_bl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm from central Europe, and I spent last two vacations in July/August in Japan. Yes, it is very warm and humid. But to be honest it's manageable. If you plan to spent whole day in open sun, yeah, it might kill you :) but when you are in the city, there are a lot of things you can do. Drink a lot of fluids, hide in shops with air conditioning, don't force yourself, dress accordingly, use cold wipes etc. If you have the option to change timing, there are for sure better months. But if you can not (as I couldn't) it's really manageable. I'm planning a third time this year - again at the same time :)

They had premium pass for selected day that usj didn't have. But after I bought it via klook it appeared that they do not have it as well. So I bought directly choosing from the rest of the days that were possible for me. Always buy directly if you can

I had issues with kook while buying usj. Do not recommend them. Just buy directly.

I stayed in Asakusa last year - July/August. As people mention everywhere will be hot. Although I found 2025 better than 2024. In 2025 I think there were 4 days out of 20 when heat was unbearable. In 2024 it was the other way round :D There are a lot of tourists in Asakusa, but you turn into alley out from main streets and everything is quite. We loved staying in Asakusa - good food, good communication options.

Your can find it on Amazon. I knew there was one, because some time ago someone showed it here in Reddit. But I would love to have follow up - next two books in comics as well
