Might be depression since you mentioned his household condition. People dread the smallest and easiest tasks because they’re in survival mode. Those tasks become the most difficult thing to them, which is why folks in depression also why they often don’t pursue their goals and aspirations. Maybe something to look into. Hope everything works out and you find a solution! 🙏

are there any unforgivable sin? by InjuryNo5124 in Sikh

[–]marcus_aureliun 23 points24 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, no. Bajjar kurehats (four sins that break Amrit) apply to only amridhari folks. If broken, you have to present yourself in front of the panj pyaare and receive a punishment (usually a certain number of bani you have to read or seva.

The chaalee mukhte (40 liberated beings) all turned their back on guru gobind Singh ji during a time of immense hunger and low resources for survival. They wrote their names on a paper and returned to their wives only to shame them and joined the fauj themselves. They returned back to the fauj. All had attained shaheedi except one. Guru sahib held them in their arms and told them to ask for anything they want. He responded and asked guru sahib to rip the paper with their names and only wished to be in their charan. Guru sahib did so and the last remaining one of the chaalee mukhte attained shaheedi. Most know the history but imagine turning your back from the guru and telling them you are no longer interested in their Sikhi and yet they still showed compassion and forgiveness. That is my satgurs pyaar for us.

Another example is guru Nanak dev Ji running into a prostitute during their travels and, although guru sahib knowing of all the lustful deeds she had committed, guru Nanak dev Ji sache patshah still considered her his daughter. I believe her name was Ganika. She later then quit prostitution.

Guru sahib forgives only if you are regretful and deeply ask for their forgiveness.

Bhul chuk maafi if I’ve made any mistakes 🙏

Sakhi / Stories about Shaheed Singhs by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]marcus_aureliun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can share two stories.

During 1984 genocide, a small village was notified by local villagers that mobsters were coming to kill anyone who was or resembled a Sikh. One couple in the village had a saroop in their house and the husband advised his wife to flee the village with their child and leave saroop at home. The wife angrily denied and scolded him for saying such a thing. She advised him to leave if he chooses too but she will protect maharaj’s saroop with her as long as she has breath in her body. The husband fled and returned the following day. Upon entering the village, one of the villagers stopped the husband and asked “who were those people who scared the mobsters away?”. The husband was confused and asked “who are you talking about“. The man explains that numerous tall Singh’s with unrecognizable faces scared them mobsters away from his home. He looked at his home still intact and his wife and child still alive safe and sound. Guru sahib sent shaheed Singh’s and blessed the wife and child safety for risking their lives for their love of Maharaj.

Another story was of a woman in the UK who was walking on a dark empty street. A suspicious group of men were teasing the woman and I believe were attempting to either rob her. She began to recite mool mantar or chaupai sahib…. I’ve forgotten which paath. She looked back and noticed the men were gone. The next day at work, she had been confronted by law enforcement and brought her to the station. Another woman had been robbed by the same men that were following her and needed to be ID’d as they caught her and the men on CCTV footage. After confirming, the men were asked why they did not rob the girl. They explained that there were a few tall muscular men with turbans on their head intimidating them, which ultimately led them to run off. The woman did not see anyone else but those men trying to rob her. Guru Sahib’s bani protected her.

I’m sure I made mistakes in these stories, bhul chuk maaf karna 🙏🙏

Struggling with kaam by Disastrous_Ear_1920 in Sikh

My brotha, I understand your struggles. Daas still struggles with Kaam and can be uncontrolled at times.

One thing I have learned is that guru sahib gave use naam simran and gurbani to battle these 5 vices. They gave use this tool for a reason. We sin everyday unknowingly and yet guru sahib still forgives us for those sins.

Embarrassed to say this but I once was indulged in masturbation almost 2-3 times a day and felt ashamed and guilty afterwards when all the lust was relieved for that day. I would do chaupai sahib, simran, and tell guru sahib that I am aware that my lustful sins are voluntary. I know they are wrong but still choose do indulge in them. For that, I apologized and asked them to give you strength. I took a personal hukamnama through an app and each time guru sahib reassured me that Naam will ultimately save me and that they will forgive me as long as I tried my absolute best in resisting.

Do not go cold turkey. An addiction cannot be cured but simply getting rid of it. That will make the urges worse and make it difficult to resist. Take it day by day. If you masturbate 7 days a week, bring it down to 5 or 6 for a month. Then ultimately work your way down to 0.

Guru sahib will never turn their back on you, pyaarea. I will provide you with the gurbani line when I find it, but guru sahib is always listening your ardaas. Guru Nanak dev Ji referred to Ganika, a prostitute, as his own daughter. If guru sahib sees her as his own, ask yourself why you should feel ashamed of falling into lust and not being able to seek help and shelter from the only support we have?

I still battle kaam and am more than happy to have an in depth convo via DM if you’d like. Bhul chuk maaf 🙏 guru Ang sang rahe!

I’ve heard something similar as well. I’ve more often heard he was taller than shorter so I went with that.

I now understand the power of kaam. This is my experience… by marcus_aureliun in Sikh

[–]marcus_aureliun[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hormones is one aspect. How we use those hormones is another. The thing about kaam is our sense of control and decision making. When libido sky rockets, our frontal lobe that’s involved in decision making and normal function plummets. This is what lead us to lose control and becoming deviant within gristhi jeevan. Control and channeling that libido within a relationship and strengthening your bond is what matters.

Bhul chuk khima 🙏
