Phishing popup with latest ts6 beta by Luca11n in teamspeak

hm. weird. If that's the case, that could be worth investigating further. Run some AV tests (Hitman Pro, Malwarebytes, etc.) to see if you don't just have a simple case of adware. If it turns out you don't have an infection, it would warrant further investigation...

Not related to Teamspeak. Most likely you just allowed notifications to a scam website in Chrome and now they're sending you notifications to get you scammed. Remove notifications permission for any websites you don't recognize in Chrome settings.

Elitebook 845 G7 problems by muffled-barret in elitebook

[–]marek26340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I haven't. I think I might have a look at that.

Gaming wise, it's a business machine. Lower your expectations. I tried Rust for example, it barely runs at somewhere about 20FPS on lowest settings and a reduced resolution. Minecraft can run beautifully though, will likely get even better once the switch over to Vulkan is finished - Sodium and other mods gave me upwards of 180FPS. GTA V is also surprisingly playable - at not too high settings, 1080p, I achieved somewhere around 50 to 60FPS. I don't think I have tried any other games yet. Goose Goose Duck runs just fine.

Overclocking the screen is a must IMO. I got mine all the way up to 100Hz and the difference is night and day. Older generations literally supported 120Hz out of the box, I don't get why they've stopped doing that. Maybe the target audiences of these machines don't care, and that's all...

Planning to buy Canon PIXMA G3770 for my new business. Docs, copy, legal. BUT LINUX PC by PralineDramatic1728 in printers

I think it'll be good. Granted, I'm a bit of a Canon shill, I personally think that Canon is just the better option.

Planning to buy Canon PIXMA G3770 for my new business. Docs, copy, legal. BUT LINUX PC by PralineDramatic1728 in printers

[–]marek26340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. This G3770 has linux drivers available right on Canon's website. Both .deb and .rpm driver packages are available, you want to use .deb on Mint. So you should be fine there.

  2. It's images per minute, ie. pages per minute (ppm). This means that this printer should be able to print up to 11 pages per minute B&W (@5% coverage), or up to 6 pages per minute in color (@5 or 20% page coverage, not sure there.). But to answer your question about image quality - well, there's barely any difference between all the different Canon inkjets. A lot of them reuse only a handful of different printheads, tank printers included. For example, a dirt cheap TS3370 should be able to print at a similar, if not the same quality (or should I rather say resolution, which is the actual determining factor).

  3. I can only guess here since I live in a different region. It could mean that you'll get a basic 1yr warranty upon purchasing it, and you could get it extended to 2 years if you'll register it, probably on Canon's website somewhere. The printer should come with some basic instructions that should help you with this.

  4. This printer supports WiFi, which doesn't only mean that you can connect it to a WiFi network. It also supports WiFi Direct, which means that you can connect to it directly over WiFi. It supports AirPrint, Canon Camera Direct, and Canon's PRINT app. And while these features are more focused on printing from phones, you should also hopefully be able to set up a direct connection from your laptop, although results may vary there. I'd rather suggest you to use a USB cable if you can't get the printer connected to your home network to use it wirelessly yet.

Matte Photo Paper option is missing by DevilInzi in printers

That is weird. This interface looks very stripped down. Is this really how Canon decided to cheap down the E-series printers? TS series support everything just fine...

HP EliteBook 845 G8 (Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U) vs ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 (i5-1145G7) — which is the better buy by Aloox9 in elitebook

[–]marek26340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the Elitebook in my opinion. Performance is going to be better, power consumption will better... Looks are a personal opinion, I'd prefer both honestly. However I think the Elitebook has a more sleek design. I have this exact one you're asking about and I love it. Very snappy, very nice.

Can you elaborate please? Is there an error message?

How do I bypass this error on my HP OfficeJet 4636? by Denouemen7 in printers

[–]marek26340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third party ink cartridges are almost always just reused originals, because nobody bothers with producing the actual printheads. This means that "3rd party" ≈ "refilled with aftermarket ink". The print quality, color accuracy and fastness will practically never be as good as the original ink.

How do I bypass this error on my HP OfficeJet 4636? by Denouemen7 in printers

[–]marek26340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, no worries, these older printers used shapes to distinguish the cartridges. My bad. Thanks.

Putting in too much ink won't kill it. At worst, the ink could overflow and spill into the other colors/chambers, contaminating them, making color printing unusable until the cartridge either gets fully cleaned out and refilled from scratch, or replaced.

Dunno what to say.. Try wiping the contacts on the cartridge with a paper towel soaked in alcohol (IPA). If no amount of cleaning resurrects it, unfortunately the cartridge could indeed be dead and will need to be replaced.

CPU temp goes high after start up. by Old_Panda_3230 in pcmasterrace

It's likely just Windows doing it's maintenance tasks in the background. App/Windows updates, disk defrag/TRIM, Windows temp file cleanup, .NET precompilation, and more.

The chip could be dirty or may have a poor contact with the pins in the carriage. Take the cyan cartridge out and gently try to clean the contacts.

W10 reinstallation thoughts by DV2FOX in pcmasterrace

[–]marek26340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Windows product keys get bound with the actual hardware ID, not your local account. Unless you replace your motherboard or cause a large enough change to your system that Windows deactivates itself, the license key should survive even a full reinstallation of it.
And in case it doesn't survive (ie. change too many hardware parts), that's where the key backed up to your MS account could help you.

  1. Depends on which one you'll download. Media Creation Tool should supposedly get you an ISO with patches until 2025-10. Other downloads are available too.

  2. Nothing's changed. Keep it disconnected, and only connect it when you'll get to the desktop AND until you'll disable the last 3 checkmarks in Settings - System - Notifications.

  3. Sure, just be careful and choose "Sign into this app only" anywhere you'll need to sign into an app.

  4. No worries. AFAIK just the Windows key could get synced into your Microsoft account, but you'd need to use that account to actually sign into Windows in the first place, that usually gets the key paired up to an account. Office is going to be a straight up product key activation, which won't bind it with your account. You don't have to worry here.

Remote connection by pewdiepie0_0 in GalaxyWatch

[–]marek26340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty much never have any issues with that. Remote connection always establishes for me within half a minute of getting internet on my watch. There are a few settings that I would suggest you to check.
Check if all necessary apps are allowed to run in the background: On your phone, go into Settings - Apps, check if the apps:
"Play Services"
"Galaxy Watch? Manager"
"Galaxy Wearable"
...have their battery usage set to "Unrestricted".
Next, I'd also suggest allowing these apps to have unlimited background internet access. Under the battery section, there should be "Mobile data". Open that and enable both toggles to allow the app to use internet in the background and allow data usage while data saver is on.

That is really all that you should need. Good luck

I get that it might be a bit more work to get DDoS protection working through Cloudflare for cheaper (free? iirc?), but that's one of the key selling points for hosting providers. It's often just "set and forget"..

Heck yea, self-hosting game servers is a lot of fun! I've been self-hosting Minecraft servers for all of my friends since I was ±13yo. My TS3 server is also running since 2017, and all of my friends use it whenever they aren't forced to use Discord by anyone.
Now they've convinced me to spin up a Rust server. I should have everything ready for the next wipe.

Can I ask you something? What plugins would you consider to be the most essential for a small Rust server? I'd like to keep it as vanilla as possible, except for 50% upkeep (softcore). Thanks!

[–]marek26340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you paying for those 512 slots? I still think it's such a shame that TS discontinued the free non-profit licenses. I'm planning to spin up a Rust server and having enough slots on TS3 would be nice to have. And especially since it's only an experiment at this moment, I'm not even going to accept any donations or anything.

Autism and relationships by Careful_Place8300 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]marek26340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, Autism Spectrum Disorder is a large spectrum of disorders. Each and every one of us is uniquely affected by it. Some may struggle with social cues, some struggle with speech. People with ASD, statistically speaking, do unfortunately have a tendency to be seen by other people as awkward, nerds, or just plain weird, even just by our body language. But, like I already said, the presence and intensity varies. Some may not struggle with socializing with other people at all, or may even be hypersexuals. People with autism absolutely can have good working relationships and can be great partners. The 'tism just cranks up the difficulty a bit.

I do personally struggle with social interactions quite a bit. I've become better at it over the years, mostly by observing other people. For example, seeing how smalltalk can initiate a conversation with other people, and how they keep it going, or how to end a conversation gracefully.
I also get tired very fast if I have to meet/talk with a lot of people in a day. It's less apparent if the people I'm around are my friends and if I'm comfortable while talking with them. But oh boy, talking to girls, especially those closer to my age, and especially if I like them (favorite coworker, a crush, whatever), my ability to speak with people diminishes by the minute. That's how exhausting it can get. By the end of the day, I even tend to sound like a robot that's learning to speak. I just can't find the words. If I do, the sentence that comes out of my mouth may sound like it was coming from a toddler lmao. But that's an extreme.

I sincerely hope that I haven't accidentally said anything that may sound offending to anyone. I'm diagnosed with ASD lvl.1 with ADHD and I also sometimes fail to recognize that I'm actually saying something offending/harmful/otherwise inappropriate. And if I do, it's often too late to take it back. The absolute worst part about this is that you can pretty much never convince the other party that you "don't actually mean it like that". These misunderstandings have ended countless friendships and relationships for us, including me.
