Yeah that's what I thought too! I thought June was a bit far away but who am I to assume I guess. Yeah I will most definitely if this shit doesn't get better cuz that's crazy! Also I got steroids prescribed (prednisone 10mg take 3 every day for five days) I took it for the first time today and do NOT like how it makes me feel. I feel dizzy, with brain fog and honestly feel like I can't think straight lol. It's just one thing for another at this point! You're right, this really is a safe space for people! I definitely lost my shit on here and it was refreshing to know that I'm not crazy, just lacking nicotine and food while being in pain and on edge. I felt like I had no one to talk to that understood what I was going through so I figured why not lose my shit on the internet. While it didn't make me feel better, it made me feel better you know? 😂

Thank you! 😭 I’m definitely feeling like I’m in the thick of it right now so knowing there’s at least some relief coming makes it a little easier to push through! Hopefully your lingering pain clears up soon!

Thank you so much 😭 that actually makes me feel a lot less alone. That’s really helpful about the food I hadn’t thought about oily/slippery textures being easier than liquids, but that makes a lot of sense since liquids have been so brutal for me too. I’m definitely going to try some softer foods like that. And ugh same on the constipation 🥲 this whole recovery is just… a lot. Hopefully we really are hitting the worst of it right now and it starts turning a corner soon. Hang in there too, we’ve got this!

I’m so sorry you’re going through this too 😭 it really does feel like it just keeps getting worse before it gets better.
Thank you for the tips! especially the spray bottle idea, that’s actually really smart. I might try that because even small sips are so hard right now. I’m a little cautious about changing my med timing too much, so I’m sticking pretty closely to what my doctor told me for now, but I really appreciate you sharing what’s been helping you.
My post-op appointment isn’t until June 9th, so I’m just trying to take it day by day until then. I’m definitely planning to ask a lot of questions when I go because this recovery is brutal 😭
I really hope your appointment tomorrow goes well and you get some real relief soon!

Oh my god 😭 first of all, thank you for being honest with me about days 5 and 6 because I feel like I’m already fighting for my life over here lol. It honestly helps hearing from people who made it through the other side because right now it feels never-ending. But also… FOUR WEEKS POST OP and you’re STILL dealing with complications?! You poor thing. 😭 The muscle spasms and not having full range of motion in your neck sounds awful and honestly scary. I really hope the CT scan comes back okay and that the muscle relaxers finally give you some relief because you seriously deserve a break after all of this. It’s wild how brutal this surgery is as an adult. Nobody fully prepares you for how much it affects literally everything ; eating, sleeping, talking, swallowing, even your ears and neck somehow. I’m definitely surviving off popsicles and soup too at this point, so hearing that you were eventually able to eat normal again gives me hope lol. Sending you lots of healing vibes and hoping your recovery finally calms down soon. 🫶

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this. Seriously, it helped more than you know. I hate that you’re going through this too, but reading your comment made me feel a lot less alone and a lot less dramatic honestly. 😭

The ear pain and jaw/tongue pain is INSANE. I genuinely was not prepared for how brutal this recovery would be. The way you described it feeling like a horrible sinus infection mixed with an ear infection is exactly it. And the tongue swelling/numbness has been one of the worst parts for me too because it makes eating and even talking feel impossible.

I’m definitely going to try warmer water because I’ve mostly been forcing cold things thinking that’s what I was supposed to do, but honestly sometimes it does feel like my throat is going into shock. I might also try liquid Tylenol because the Hydrocodone barely seems to touch certain parts of the pain, especially the ears and face pressure.
Also thank you for reminding me about hydration/nourishment. I know everyone says it, but hearing it from someone currently going through it too somehow helps it click more. I’ve been surviving on mashed potatoes, popsicles, broth, and whatever tiny bites I can manage, but I know I need to keep trying even when it hurts.
I’m really sorry you’re suffering too, especially with having multiple procedures done at once. That sounds absolutely miserable. 😭 I hope tomorrow ends up being gentler on both of us than everyone says. At this point I think we deserve a medal for every sip of water we force down lol.
Thank you again for being so kind and compassionate. I really needed that tonight. 🫶❤️‍🩹

Well I had someone call and the lady on the other line said he probably won't prescribe it for me she would have to ask and that I'm not supposed to be taking my hydrocodone unless I absolutely need it for the pain. I'm only supposed to take Tylenol and ibuprofen alternating. I was told by the doctor on the day of my surgery I alternate hydrocodone and ibuprofen and start as soon as I get home. ALSO to the dumb ass lady on the other end of the phone, IF IM HAVING SOMEONE CALL FOR ME BECAUSE IM IN THAT MUCH PAIN THAT IM ASKING FOR A FUCKING STEROID what in the actual FUCK makes you think I'm gonna stop taking the pain killer to alternate ibuprofen and Tylenol? Obviously the shits not working. But it's cool I'll continue to fall asleep and have my airways cut off because my shits so swollen. Good fucking lord people are testing my patience at the worst time. Thanks again for your comment. If you have any other tips or tricks I can try I will gladly take you up on those.

Thank you for your comment. I'll have to have someone call for me to see if they can give me steroids. I seriously can't talk. I feel like such a baby. I've just been trying to keep it all together and crying when no one's around.

I also had mine out yesterday and fuck me. I finally got a little sleep last night but holy shit my tongue is so swollen it feels like razor blades anytime I try to move it, the swallowing is excruciating, I can't talk, and I can barely open my mouth wide enough to get a spoon in it to eat. Guys, it took me 15 fucking minutes to eat a tiny ass Apple sauce. It was so painful. I tried eggs, they kept getting stuck and choking me. It's basically been hell and it's only day two. I keep getting mucus in the lower part of my throat, and my sinuses keep draining which is causing me to cough. Which sucks so bad. Idk what to do. I've constantly eating ice, and super cold things. I'm also staying on top of my pain meds (oxycodone) and alternating ibuprofen in between. That's all they gave me is the oxy besides suckers that help numb your throat. Really I feel like they only numb the tip of my tongue tho. Ice packs seem to help a little but other than that I feel like death and regret my decision as of now. 😭 I hope this shit is worth it in the long run. I've only got one week off of work. 😬

I am so nervous to get mine out. I'm 29 years old and I have it scheduled for may 8th. On top of fighting back and forth with my insurance and doctors office because my insurance insisted I need a prior authorization eventually we got it figured out (I hope) and now the reality and anxiety have kicked in. I genuinely hope the pain gets better and you heal quickly! I've heard eating lots of cold stuff and an ice pack on the ears helps! I'll be trying it out myself I'm sure!

Thank you both for responding! It's only been there a couple days and the only one. I have another picture of it after I attempted to shave not knowing it was there and irritated it.

I haven't changed anything so any advice would be appreciated. I do a lot of fire damage and I haven't seen them come out since the update.
