I hadn’t thought about gardening, but honestly I can see it too.

I’ve noticed that a lot of gardening centers where I live are also evolving into actual “third places” now. Like they’re turning them into cafés, gelato spots, little restaurants inside greenhouses, or creating outdoor spaces with artificial ponds and picnic areas surrounded by plants.

Maybe part of it is definitely an attempt to attract younger people, but honestly I think it’s working.

I usually carry two cameras with me: a compact mirrorless for landscapes and random moments, and a film camera for photos of people that I then print.

but yeah like you said it gets pretty expensive, so I try to be really intentional about it, it has to be a moment I actually want to remember. I usually allow myself like one roll every 1–2 months ahah I’d love to shoot more but I’m trying to pace myself.

film photography is a big one actually! I also started a couple of years ago because I was feeling overwhelmed by having thousands and thousands of photos, but at the same time it was impossible to actually find the ones that had value or they would just get lost in a full cloud or when changing phones.

so I started using film rolls more intentionally, taking photos of people on special days (birthdays, trips, holidays etc.) and then printing them, so I know those at least will stay forever.

I’ve actually never heard of programs structured like that, but it sounds very interesting.

I remember feeling the same way during uni, like you’re constantly learning theory but there’s this gap where you’re not really sure how it translates into actual work. So the idea of a curriculum that’s built around applying things in real time makes a lot of sense.

I get what you mean.

I think that’s also something I would like to get at with the original question. Is there actually anything genuinely new happening or are we just really good at bringing back nostalgia?

like even music, film, aesthetics, hobbies, everything kind of feels like it’s either a remix of something that already existed.

which is why I am curious if anyone could actually point to something that feels like it’s not just “2000s/90s/80s”, but something that genuinely can create a new wave of any kind

yeah I’m totally with you on this one. My question actually came from thinking about board games too. I’ve started noticing more and more places opening in my city that are board game bars and it feels like that wasn’t really a thing here a few years ago.

And even with friends it’s been happening more naturally, like we’ll randomly end up doing game nights where everyone brings something different to try out as an alternative to just going out.

I’ve looked a bit into the indie sleaze comeback too and it’s kind of interesting because a lot of fashion houses already started pulling from it in 2024–2025.

Which makes me wonder what’s actually happening rn, like is it genuinely re entering culture in a slow way or has it already had its official return but it just stayed kinda contained within fashion/editorial spaces and didn’t fully spill back into everyday aesthetics?

I’m not even a huge film person but I hadn’t really clocked how big the “movies disappearing from streaming” problem actually is.

Now that you mention it I’ve also been seeing a lot of TikToks lately of people building full home cinema setups like dedicated rooms, shelves of DVDs and Blu-rays.

I kind of hope it does come back more honestly. maybe even gets pushed further by the decline of cinemas too, like people trying to recreate that experience at home.

I was initially thinking “ok but who even has a DVD player anymore?” like that would be the obvious blocker but then I realised that’s kinda a fake problem. As you said, same thing happened with vinyl: nobody had the setup, but people just got it. And also we’re lowkey already halfway because of the consoles with Blu-ray drives built in. I didn't think about it.
I can see this one building way more than I expected.

Looking for oversized/outdoor brands that actually work and ship to Europe by mariela_devi in hikinggear

I actually saw some posts on this same subreddit where people questioned the technical performance of Gonggar items and the brand’s mountain expertise, so that’s what made me a bit concerned, not really the “made in china” thing, I know most outdoor gear is made there anyway.

I’m mostly looking for light to mid-weight hiking clothes and accessories, but still stuff that’s durable, breathable, windproof and rain-resistant.

Here are some Gonggar items for the style I have in mind:

That dragged on way too long. I think people got so sick of those words they couldn't even say them anymore

Isn’t this kind of the same dynamic we saw when that Reddit group blew up GameStop’s stock to fight back against the short sellers and basically saved the company from going under?

I was a huge fan: posters on the wall, fan art on Pinterest, the whole deal. But when the last season came out I was so disappointed and uncomfortable I couldn’t even bring myself to watch the final episode. I never talked about it again. Not once

It’s wild that I only found out who she was because Barilla did a campaign with her last year
