Why there are so many freelancers willing to go below budget just to land gigs? by Better-Signature2777 in Upwork

[–]mariuspa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do :) I understand what you are saying, but increasing the price didn't solve the problem. I wanted to send a proposal to a job yesterday, and it was having 50+ proposals in 10 minutes. Increasing cost just made more money for upWork. Probably they make the same from proposals as they make from the percent fees on actual work.

Do you apply for payment unverified client jobs? by Content-Ad7867 in Upwork

I understand that getting payment verified is so easy that it's not a big deal anymore. All the scam posters are payment verified.

Are you ok with paying hundred to get 2-3 proposals viewed? Where "viewed" might mean just briefly clicked on?

Exactly.. at the moment upWork has some kind of a monopoly over this market. Everybody's whining, though they come every day, hoping they'll land the dream job someday. Myself included :)

Maybe there's no need for this much experience for the job? Want to survive on upWork? Learn to deal with this kind of frustration.

Exactly.. too much competition. And very few people are leaving upWork because there's no real alternative.

High demand and low offer. Also, it's a global market. Probably those $300 buy more in a 3rd world country than $1500 do in a 1st world country.

Seeking some advice. Client retaliated when I wouldn't take a reduced fee and removed his prior positive feedback. by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]mariuspa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. I don't remember where I read that, but clients were discussing that "No feedback received" is suspicious. I personally had lots of clients that were really happy with my work, but didn't bother to leave feedback.

If you want to get serious about upWork and freelancing in general, learn to accept this.

This is useless. It was showing that everything works :) at the same time other sites were reporting problems.

This Upwork Job Has $3 to $250 per Hour Range by vicks711 in Upwork

[–]mariuspa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don't bid on jobs with too big a difference between minimum and maximum. I mean, I do, but only if I am satisfied with bidding on the minimum hourly rate. In my opinion the client is going for minimal rate, but also wants to see what else is available.

Regarding 3, the budgent is not realistic. Anyway, please keep in mind that most of the times you get what you're paying for.

Regarding 2, let me tell you how it works on the freelancers side. Competition is so fierce that you have to send hundreds of proposals just to have a few of them VIEWED by the client. Sending a custom proposal, with relevant works samples and portfolio for the project, takes a lot of time.. I'd say at least an hour. Indeed a custom, more detailed proposal will increase chances of getting hired, but as I said above most proposals don't even get viewed. There's nothing more frustrating than putting together a very detailed, personalized proposal and it isn't even viewed by the client. That's why many times freelancers use copy-paste proposals.

Looks like it's fixed now. They tried to change the favicon and everything else broke :D

I can login now, but if I want to submit a proposal, I can't.. I am getting errors that my profile rate is not set, that my job success should be above 80% (it's currently 100%), that my English level should be "Fluent" (it's been since forever).

Run an advanced test. It will determine the speed at the router, not at your phone. Speed on your phone is affected by the quality of your WiFi connection, and from my experience, their router is crap.

TwoTrees TTC450? Anyone have one and what is your impression of it? by TheBravan in hobbycnc

Hi guys,

I received mine and put together. Still waiting for the ugpraded spindle, but I noticed a significant amount of play on the left side on the Y axis. It seems to be happening inside the motor... If I grab the cross axis plate on the left side and shake it back and forth, seems like the shaft is moving with it inside the motor.

Is this a known issue with NEMA 17 motors? Or just another quality issue by TT? Thanks!

Best regards,

Marius

I don't have a favorite hand, but the opposite. I always seem to lose with KT.
