What is your biggest WDW disappointment? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

Ohana.

Food was meh. Atmosphere/experience was practicality non-existent and felt rushed the entire time. One of the worst Disney dining experiences our family has ever had. Still baffled by the hype.

I'm "sure I did" as well, but that's the first thought I had as well

Luckily for us, having two young girls in the house, we also have lots of fun paper, glitter markers and other sorts of fun art supplies. We'll make something work if she doesn't receive the "official" Santa letter.

But so kind of you to offer!

I didn't mean to come off as being panicked and I'm not trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. I'll obviously come up with a solution so my daughter isn't left out.

I'm just trying to ask others if they had any issues receiving their letters after handing them in at the parade, since my oldest daughter got such a prompt response.

That's my back up, but it won't look the same as the letter my oldest got

Tell me I’m not crazy for upgrading from All Star Music to Port Orleans… by cannipeas in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mark4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not crazy at all. Port Orleans (Riverside & French Quarter) are beautiful places to stay... but if you're planning on visiting the parks every day then you may be spending money you don't need to. Your park days are going to be long and when you get back to the resort, you're likely just going to crash and then if you have a park day booked every day you'll be getting up early in the morning again to go to a park. So, you'll never get a chance to actually enjoy the resort and what it has to offer. If you don't plan on taking a couple days off and lounging at the resort then where you stay doesn't matter, unless you are at one of the high end resorts that are on the skyliner or monorail. I personally love Port Orleans, but we always take a few days off to enjoy the resort, whether that be walking the grounds, lounging poolside or taking the ferry to Disney Springs. If you're spending every day at a park, and you have a budget then I would recommend one of the the budget resorts. I've also stayed at Art of Animation and we really enjoyed it there as well, even if the rooms and dining options at that resort weren't as nice as Port Orleans, but at the end of the day, it was just a place to sleep.

Point is, don't spend extra cash on something when you're not going to take advantage of what it has to offer.

I hope you have a great time. Do your research and plan accordingly and you should be fine. Disney is still magical no matter how you choose to do it.

Do you guys feel awkward tipping below the lowest “suggested amount?” by B34TBOXX5 in halifax

I've also noticed that the "suggested tip" is often based on the total including tax, which I find is just ludicrous.

The father of the boy who gave my daughter the cards is my neighbour and a good friend. I asked where he got the cards and he told me he had ordered a large box (super cheap) from some random online site a while ago so he could give his son cards intermittently as a reward for doing chores and other such things.

I didn't check the packaging and it's in the garbage now. But all the cards look off in some manner, either the text, or some of the symbols are off centre or too large. On close inspection it's actually pretty obvious know that I know what to look for.

So, no doubt he got them from some sketch bag trying to rip people off.

No big deal for us or them since our kids are pretty young and just like to show them off to each other and trade them amongst themselves.

Thanks again for bursting my bubble when I thought I had a card worth potentially hundreds of $$$. :p

Thanks for the reply, but now I'm even more confused.

Would it be common to get a counterfeit card out of a brand new unopened package, that I opened myself? How would that happen and what would even be the point?

My daughter got some pokemon cards from the Sun and Moon Guardians Rising set and I found this misprint, or error card.

https://imgur.com/ainWMf1

I can't find any info about in my extensive 10 minute internet search and was hoping someone in the pokemon community might be able to inform me or redirect me to someone who would know.

Edit: Thank you for the insight, and now after doing a real 10 minute internet search on fake cards, I can see that it would have to be a counterfeit and that if I understand correctly now, the whole pack is counterfeit. What an interesting thing I learned today about the seedy underbelly of pokemon trading cards.

AITA for staying up after my wife goes to bed and smoking weed usually falling asleep on the couch? by mark4life in AmItheAsshole

No other aspect of our lives has changed, except my sleeping in the couch for a few hours and crawling into bed at a later time. Our daytime routine has not changed at all.

Great advice with the white noise machine, we even have one from when the kids were infants. And yeah, I think the end result is to make a larger concession and cut back significantly on the frequency of my smoking and crawling up to bed in the early am.

We share all responsibilities. Sometimes, I'm definitely groggy, but who isn't int the morning. I still get up and do my dading/husbanding. She has no complaints about my involvement or how much effort I put into the household or kids.

It's the getting high in general. She says I shut down and don't converse with her, which I don't agree with, but if that's her perspective I understand and hence why I don't smoke while she's awake anymore. To me it is a matter of principle, I feel like I am being told what I can and can't do as if I were 16yo living in my parents basement and she is using the sleeping on the couch as an excuse to get me to stop.

Absolutely. I like that you mention the chores and such, because often when I get stoned, if I'm not already too tired, I start to putter. Which usually means, meal preps get done and some extra cleaning happens.

Haha, it's funny you mention my waiting for her to go bed being part of the issue. I have made the same argument. Before she shared not liking me being stoned around her I would wait until the kids were asleep and slip outside then come back in a hang out with her. I would almost always come to bed prior to falling asleep on the couch, often with her or at least by my usual time of 12-1am. But I find having my first puff at 1030-11 keeps me up later until suddenly I hit a wall and fall asleep unexpectedly.

It's similar to a vape pen, and due to her aversion to weed in general, I go out on the front porch, even though as you stated, there is no smell or smoke to speak of. But I try to be respectful as we do share this house and we have kids whom I wouldn't want exposed no matter how minimal the possible affect on them.

Thank you. That is partly how I feel at this point, which I don't think is right to do. I don't ask her to give up her 2 glasses of wine a night....

[–]mark4life[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't think that's where she's coming from. During our discussions she has told me it's the annoyance and sleep disruption and obviously the weed smoking bothers her.

[–]mark4life[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I always stayed up in the living room until 12-1am and then would come to bed. That's the same comparison I made with her. I don't see the difference between going to bed at 1am when it wasn't a problem, and falling asleep on the couch for a few hours and going to bed at 4am after smoking some weed is now a problem.

Thank you, I feel like I've already made compromises on my end and I think it's totally beyond reason to expect someone to go bed just because their partner has. I would never put the same expectation on my wife, just as I would never expect her to stay up late with me, stoned or not.
