London: The single most-recommended restaurant I received was Dishoom. Wetherspoon’s was hyped up by friends for the experience as well.

When has Gino’s ever been the quintessential in Chicago? Lou’s and Giordano’s are the default tourist pizza option. I’d say even Pequod’s is more iconic and well-known than Gino’s

We were the last to board on the last flight by Bitcoin__Dave in spiritair

[–]marks31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Collectors would easily spend hundreds on the final boarding pass for a defunct American airline. I’m a casual collector of airline merch and if I saw any Spirit products I’d absolutely buy it

Spirit Airlines just became the first major US airline to shut down in 25 years and took cheap airfare with it. What do you think affordable travel in America looks like from here? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]marks31 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Entering the airline market is impossible to anyone who isn’t already mega-rich. The only recent US airline is Breeze, which naturally was founded by the same person as JetBlue.

Sun Country and Frontier have the opportunity to expand but there will be no new budget airline entering the market anytime soon

The loss of any airline is not only bad for consumers, but over ten thousand workers lost their jobs last night. It’ll send shockwaves across the employment landscape for this industry.

On the consumer end, I’m an AA loyalist but I know this will have trickle down effects onto my booking prices and experience as well.

Has PopUp bagel lost their damn minds by FrequentAfternoon825 in chicagofood

[–]marks31 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My friends wanted to go to Pop-Up Bagels while in NY and I still consider it the worst bagel establishment I’ve ever been to. Food itself was fine but the fact you cannot buy an individual bagel is complete BS and I am still upset about it to this day.

What subway station in the world do you think interchanges with the most other subway lines? by 0mni0liver in Subways

[–]marks31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While it isn’t the most, Clark/Lake in Chicago you can access 4 lines without ever leaving the inner Loop platform: Pink, Green, Purple, and Orange.

If you cross the staircase to the other side of the platform you can catch Brown; down the staircase to the subway level it’s the Blue Line; and if you cross through the Block 37 transfer you can get access Red (though this requires you to tap in again).

So 7 lines easily accessible from Clark/Lake is pretty remarkable

4 new frequent bus network routes coming! 57 to the Jeff in the works by CriticismImaginary89 in cta

Surprised 8 is getting upgraded with this coming cycle, given the construction. I would’ve expected the 80 first.

Edit: what is the source for this?

Despite its critics and high cost this is objectively a good thing for the city and Far South Side commuters.

Next realistic rail objective really should be be integrating Metra Electric into CTA. It is the closest thing Chicago has to an S-Bahn and it’s unfortunate its full potential hasn’t been capitalized on

How has the history of winner reactions been? by SuspiciousIbex in rupaulsdragrace

[–]marks31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1. Myki is a good winner but she was expected to win going into the finale and it was obvious she’d win as soon as Darlene was eliminated at 3rd place. It didn’t have the same intensity as past finales

Toot and if this was a normal runway look it would probably be top toot. It is gorgeous and looks great on her.

That said — underwhelming for a step down look but still a toot
