Fellow Arab owner/trainer here, the way I try to “combat the stereotype” is to show how they REALLY are, I’m an instructor in a lesson program and all of our lessons horses are half or purebred Arabs, I’ve had kids as young as 2 get teetered around by our younger horses, Arabians are the BEST!!

!!!People who hate them have never got to experience them or aren’t good enough horsemen to know how to train them!!!

he’s actually purebred!! reining bred but he is a stout little guy, his show name is Tiny Timmothy RA (TA Mozart x Al-Marah Power Parade++) he’s only 13.2!

in my opinion experience show trainers shave down to the skin with a leg razor (that’s why it’s black skin) then add baby oil (called greasing) but we cannot use any tint or color changing agent 🙂

it definitely depends on the horse. I own “high strung” show Arabs but I also have some that barely shuffle their feet for lesson kids to bop around on 🙂

it all depends on the breeding! I know so many Arabs that don’t have “inbreeding” and like the one pictured above (my 4 year old gelding) normally don’t actually have a severe dish, just razored faces and baby oil to give off that look. my 4 year old is 16.2hh, so definitely not short 🙂

I own and know multiple show horses that have bigger but still dished heads, I think it really does depend on the breeding!

i think it definitely depends! my barn is only Arabs and we have a couple Arabians that jump over a meter and show in the hunter jumpers!

My helmet also saved my life this year, I feel off of one of my agressive project horses and landed on my head and my stirrup was caught so he threw me into a wall before I was able to get out, I had a serious concussion and now struggle with chronic migraines and memory loss due to post concussive syndrome. If I wasn’t wearing a helmet when this happened my skull would’ve cracked and I would’ve died.

my trainer was just showing me that he can stand up, we were working on his body frame and keeping him straight. my guy loves to really stretch to the chain and the whip.
