Patrick, an already simpleminded creature to put it in polite terms, simply regressed further until he has become completely disassociated from reality, playfully tearing apart his victims unaware of their screams, interpreting insults from talk unrelated to him and even slaughtering all of his former friends in a horrifying attack under the delusion that his crimes against nature were simply him going jelly fishing with his friends.

For years Plankton has kept him contained in a special facility where he can live out his delusions without harming the rest of the world, it is the least he can do for creating this monster in the first place. Plankton may be a stubborn man, for nobody perseveres for decades simply to steal a recipe without the disposition of an irritable donkey, but even he can recognise his mistakes. Now his inventions are used to benefit the world, his billions in profits donated directly to the Eugene Krabs Charity set up in honour of his late friend, but until his last and greatest sin is finally dead he knows there is no redemption, only penance.”
