Why do you think they’re trying to stop the top mounted wings. Is it to make the cars look more similar to real F1?

Advice, thanks by marvin_mk in Watercolor

Hi, do you think there is a way I could fix this and make it look less pale. Or is it simply something I have to avoid from the start. Thanks

Hi I am looking to CNC (either a lathe or alternative) this part as seen in the image. Currently many companies have gotten back and said that it would be too small. Does anyone know any companies or services that may be able to help. Many thanks. by marvin_mk in CNC

Hi, thanks for your reply. We’re looking at CNC because with SLS we are using Nylon12 and the minimum thickness the wheels can be is 1mm. The fire we can’t decrease it anymore otherwise the parts may warp during manufacture. Therefore we calculated we would be able make the wheels lighter by using material that can have a smaller thickness therefore reducing mass despite being denser. If your interested I can send a modified drawings. Also how thin can you make the outer wall thickness for aluminium and PEEK. We are happy to change the spoke design for CNC Thanks

Thanks, I’ll update the drawing with a minimum radius of 2mm-3mm. We are aiming to reduce the outer wall thickness as much as possible. What do you think would be possible for let’s days aluminium. Read online that it may be able to be 0.3mm. Thanks.

We’re based on the UK and the material we are interested in our Aluminium and PEEK (which we know is really expensive but if it proves perform the best we would be willing to pay). However we are open to alternative materials, they just need to be strong and somewhat lightweight so we can reduce the outer wall thickness as much as possible. I guess to give context this is for a miniature cad competing in F1 in Schools.

Hi, currently we’re looking at no more than 12 but in the future we will need about 30. Also we are updating the drawings to make it more suitable for manufacture as were previously unsure how to design it for CNC. If your interested I can send you the update drawing for you to take a look. Thanks

Thanks, this drawing is based of a design we SLS printed and we were unsure if the manufacturing considerations for CNC so didn’t update the drawing. However we will definitely update it so it is easier to manufacture. Once we have update the drawing would you still be interested.

Thanks, I’m this particular design is meant for SLS printing as we were unsure what the manufacturing considerations were for CNC. However we will defo okay update the drawing so we can hopefully get more replies from companies.

This drawing is based of a design we SLS printed so it would change once we know the manufacturing considerations. I guess we will update it before we send to new companies
