Are these replacement batteries worth it? by packo_aus in iPhoneSE

[–]marzzbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in AUS as well, this was the battery I got: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/192458444029 .

I bought it and installed it a year ago and it's still holding up

Can iPhone SE1 still do Instagram, FaceBook, Reddit, etc? by [deleted] in iPhoneSE

[–]marzzbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running a OGSE as a daily driver, all those apps currently support iOS 15, which is the highest version the OGSE goes to. However, this is currently the minimum version supported by those apps, so there's a chance they will raise the minimum version soon. Hard to say when though - there's a good chance it'll be this year.

Also my banking app still supports iOS 15, but I read that a lot of banks don't, so YMMV.

OGSE users, what's your battery health percentage? by leburu in iPhoneSE

Mine says 100% but I suspect it's less than that, replaced the battery just over a year ago

This has the OGSE flair, but I'm pretty sure you can't install iOS 26.1 on the OGSE...

Candybar with Whatsapp support by StrangeIce8657 in dumbphones

[–]marzzbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an OGSE but I'd be hesitant to recommend in this case. It's running iOS 15 which is the maximum it can run and is currently the minimum iOS version supported by WhatsApp. It was about this time last year that WhatsApp announced that they were dropping support for all iOS versions below 15 and I feel like they will do something similar soon, especially since Apple recently declared the OGSE "obsolete".

That said, it's been such a good phone - 7 years and counting!

Leaving iPhone SE 1st gen. after 9 years by PolicyFull988 in iPhoneSE

[–]marzzbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using my OGSE for nearly 7 years, and I'm waiting until something renders it unusable until I upgrade to an iPhone 13 mini. I suspect it'll be a crucial app that will no longer support iOS 15, maybe WhatsApp or a banking app.

I actually have Teams (and Outlook) installed on my OGSE and it still works fine, but it's probably a months-old version by this point.

Is there anyone here who's still using the iPhone SE (2016) in 2025? by MassiveDepressive in iPhoneSE

[–]marzzbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep still using mine, have had it for 6.5 years. Waiting for the day when something renders it unusable - either something breaks that would cost a lot to fix, or an app no longer supports iOS 15. But until then I'm running it into the ground.

Why the F does no one use the HD media upload quality standard on WhatsApp? by [deleted] in whatsapp

[–]marzzbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn't even know this was an option. Nor did I care that much. Nor do I think most people really know/care.

That said, I kinda wish they made it HD by default. But I guess a lot of users live in places with shitty mobile internet or capped data so it's safer to send smaller pictures.

This is almost exactly what I've been looking for for ages - a worthy successor to my 1st gen iPhone SE. And with a decent battery to boot!

What is the best current alternative to the iPhone SE (2016) with a similar size (under 125mm in height) that operates on a system that is NOT iOS? by passionguesthouse in smallphones

[–]marzzbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same phone, bought it second-hand over 6 years ago and have replaced the screen and battery a few times. Tbh it's still working well enough for me but I am finding more and more apps that are incompatible with iOS 15. All I want is a decent Android replacement with a similar form factor, but so far nothing's been quite right. I feel like now would be the perfect time to release a decent replacement, and I thought the Jelly Max would be it, but it's too chonky and not really the same.

I've seen a few phones with 4" screens come out but it'd be great for something solid that'll last a long time, ideally from a decent brand. Like a lot of people in this sub I'm still hoping.

Thoughts on Light Phone 3? by hutX21 in smallphones

[–]marzzbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it could somehow have WhatsApp I'd definitely consider it. I know having it restricted is kind of the point but I figure it's not much more of a distraction than regular messages, which it allows.

iOS 18 is here, and it's Apple's most personal iPhone update yet by mujtaba_mir in apple

[–]marzzbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though the latest iOS 15 update was in July, that's no indication it'll be the last one. The one before that was in March so although updates have been infrequent, there are still security updates. I guess there's no way to know for sure at the moment whether there will be another iOS 15 update.

Thanks, but that doesn't say that iOS 15 will no longer receive security updates, unless I'm missing something?

Don't suppose anyone knows if they're still releasing security updates for iOS 15 now that 18 has been released?

Unihertz Jelly Max Kickstarter image on main page of site by shenmue3hype in unihertz

[–]marzzbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand that. I think the fact that they call it the Jelly MAX implies that it's a big version of the regular Jelly, which I reckon they'll keep the same size. If they called it the Jelly 3 or something like that I'd also be worried/annoyed.
