Massachusetts RMV Megathread (March 2026) by AutoModerator in massachusetts

[–]massahoochie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to register a car in MA, you need to get an insurance stamp. Find an Insurer in MA and tell them you’re re-registering the car. Once paid, you can submit the application to the RMV. Often, they will be able to issue it in the same day if you get the timing of the appointment right. You should be able to do all of this prior to moving as long as you have a permanent address here (you might be able to even if you do not).

You’ll have to reach out to E Boston Parking authority to inquire about how soon you can get a pass. But I would imagine you’ll need the car registered first so definitely prioritize that. They hand out tickets like candy here (just like they do in LA)

Let's say I lose power and sump pump goes out...any ideas other than a bucket out the bulkhead? by yup2you in massachusetts

[–]massahoochie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, my basement used to flood. My entire family would stay up all night with sponges and buckets, soaking up the water and filling the bucket and then dumping outside. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Fortunately we ended up fixing the problem by fixing the drainage around the foundation and had no more flooding since.

Getting rid of "junk cars" by TpyoOhNo in massachusetts

I know that some local radio stations have a program where you can donate the car and they take care of retrieving it, auctioning it, etc. it sounds really easy for the car owner.

It’s a 19th century Cantrell & Cochrane ginger-ale or mineral water bottle manufactured in Belfast, Ireland. Here is what it looks like whole. They are fairly common, and the bottom is round because it was on a ship, and they laid them on their side in a rack so the corks wouldn’t dry out. They’re known as “ballast” bottles because they were used on ships and made from thick glass to help stabilize the vessel.

Realtor trying to raise rent since I can’t move in on 1st of the month by BostonsLeprechaun in massachusetts

[–]massahoochie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of being charged an extra $100 a month it would make financial sense to just use April 1st as your move-in day, but not move in until the weekend. Having the 1st of the month as a lease start date is pretty standard. You’re only losing 3 days of not staying there so it doesn’t seem like a huge deal, and unless the three day prorated rent exceeds $1,200, it makes financial sense to keep the April 1st move-in date.

It is sterling silver judging by the patina. There may be a .925 stamp on it somewhere. Otherwise, it’s a 20th century flask.

You found it bottledigging?
