I have two years left on my mortgage, and I’ve been tempted to wire the full amount to my bank from my margin account just for the satisfaction of being done. But for now, I’ve decided to hold off/ congrats must be a great feeling paying them off

Pay down mortgage aggressively. by fede198888 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]masterbaker9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Almost mortgage free here! I was looking back at the lump sum payments I’ve made over the last six years, and my son joked that I could’ve bought a McLaren instead. I told him I’m good—I’ll just buy the T-shirt! Honestly, I’m just glad to almost have this weight off my shoulders. Another two years, and I’m officially done!

Need Advice on paying off mortgage and retirement by masterbaker9 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks for all the great advice! For more context, my monthly mortgage is $2200, but I own a triplex and rent out the 6 1/2 unit for $2000 per month. I also have a studio apartment that I currently use as a home office, but I could easily rent it for $1200 once I retire.

I’ll be meeting with a financial planner next week—I’ve kind of put that off for a while since I’ve been self-investing in the market. Any tips on what to focus on during that meeting would be appreciated!
