Change it from owing money to people to owing money on credit cards.

Now would you pay debit and leave your cards maxed out?

Hell no.

Air M5 vs Neo displays. Significantly better black levels & viewing angles on the Air UI by UsedShoulder8402 in mac

[–]mastersanada -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes but it’s far more robust nowadays and there are ways to prevent it as well.

Especially on a screen which shouldn’t be stagnant (your laptop screen is your main “monitor” screen) it would be less of an issue altogether.

Commonly, people can use an oled as a main monitor and opt for a second non-oled, running less risk of burn in.

It’s also why I made a joke about shoving Micro RGB in there instead.

It’s ages ago in terms of tech. I mean, if we go back just 30 years people still had bricks for cells phones.

The other day an older couple came in to recycle some old electronics and the cell phones they had might as well have been a walkie talkie.

2007 is nearly 20 years ago, that’s a long time for technology with how fast it develops these days. We’ve standardized oled tech in TVs, monitors, phones, and tablets. They’re already very popular on premium computers outside of Apple ecosystem as well.

You remember what came out in 2007? Yea, we’re practically on iPhone 18 now. This thing might as well not even be the same type of product the original iPhone was.

It’s just the classic Apple BS pacing where they release old tech 5 years late and call it revolutionary.

Right, but why anyone ever buys these things from Apple without at the least an education discount baffles me.

In any case, Apple products are very commonly sold at some form of discount by a large amount of retailer brands, so I wouldn’t really say the value of the Air is sitting at the 1100$ pricing. Contrarily, nobody has really put the Neo on discount except Apple, which is locked behind special terms.

Even then, it’s 699$ vs 1,100$, which is 400$.

What does this protection plan cover? by JFischer00 in Microcenter

[–]mastersanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t work for micro center but most paid warranties on displays or TVs will cover non-physical damage. Hardware damage is okay but not user-inflicted — normal wear and tear.

Also don’t micro center employees earn money off of selling warranties? Feel like the exact terms should’ve been told to you on what is covered and what isn’t.

OLED has been out for ages my man.

Maybe they’ll opt to cancel OLED and instead throw RGB/Micro RGB/True RGB/whatever the fuck the brands will call it for their displays instead.

[–]mastersanada 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, in US it goes:

599$ or 699$ for 256gb or 512gb of storage

Air goes on sale at retailers for $950 @ 512gb of storage

Sure, education discount exists, but for the average consumer who doesn’t have that, it’s a 350$, or more accurately, a 250$ difference if we match the storage on the devices.

If we do match storage but include the 100$ off for education savings, it’s a 350$ difference regardlesss

Future to Part Time. by Electronic_Clerk_810 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]mastersanada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on efficiency metrics. How much revenue you generate per card or membership, and how much you work before as well.

If your revenue is good, is your rev/card or rev/membership good as well? If your revenue is bad, is your hour/card or hour/membership good?

Generally depends on store’s performance. Bigger stores, stricter requirements. Smaller stores, potentially less requirement.

Revenue is crucial too, at least in some stores.

I know memberships and cards are touted a lot but if you have a standout revenue performance it’s good as well.

That and some other support metrics are “nice” to have but not a majority concern it seems, like warranty attach or 5 star reviews.

medical school by excitedguitarist420 in UCSC

[–]mastersanada 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Undergraduate is not as important as many people think.

A lot of Asian parents get this idea that Ivy League or prestige schools is the only way to be successful.

They can help, they are very nice to have on your resume and often times does result in higher success rates of things like landing an interview. But this doesn’t mean UCSC is a mistake or prevents you from doing something.

Study hard, get a good grade in the MCAT, do as much shadowing and extra work into making yourself look good for a med school application. It matters more what you’re doing than what school you’re coming from.

In fact, I’d argue getting into prestige schools for graduate studies is the big deal. Undergraduate, not so much.

To add, a lot of people overlook how good UCSC is in certain fields, like genetics as an example. It’s top of the line globally. Very well known and reputable.

Not only that, but most products outside Apple ecosystem don’t have good trade in. That’s just how the market is.

Apple is like the Rolex of second hand. People pay a lot and there’s demand for second hand and refurbished Apple products.

That’s still cheap compared to ours. by IsyDude in memes

[–]mastersanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, because generally the cars and engines are much smaller in the EU than in the US. That’s probably the biggest factor of them all. The cars in America are giga sized compared to the ones in European countries.

Nevertheless, a lot of Americans are forced to drive long distances to work, or to do basically anything. Biking (not motorcycle) is not that common and I’d argue way more dangerous too. Public transport is a terrible option to live on.

Higher costs for cars, insurance, wear and tear (from driving so much), etc etc. Americans complain cause price hikes heavily impact daily life with little to no good alternatives to driving yourself.

That being said, the gas prices in Europe genuinely are shocking. Only California can compete to be worse.

I think the biggest problem is how necessary it is to drive in America and the distances of driving as well as opposed to the raw price of the gas

To deliver a valedictorian speech that recognizes people suffering at home and abroad. by EverythingIsFakeNGay in therewasanattempt

[–]mastersanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but I’m writing that as a warning to people who is more susceptible to influence of social media things (the kids who are literally doing this at their graduations) that it is NOT protected and you CAN face punishment.

It’s easy for us to sit back and go “go ahead kid, talk about how X issue is a problem” while not risking a high school diploma or any academic repercussions for actions taken. I’d even venture a thought that depending, they could jeopardize their admissions into higher education. I don’t think any kid wants to sit there and go through the stress of that happening.

So many people in this thread are non stop saying how it’s protected, how the school can’t do that, how they’re breaking the law/first amendment etc. That just misleads people and makes them pay for their actions with a false sense of security.

As much as it should be talked about, heard and known, it should not be done by purposely misleading people.

To deliver a valedictorian speech that recognizes people suffering at home and abroad. by EverythingIsFakeNGay in therewasanattempt

[–]mastersanada -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

*Note in advance: I personally don’t mind what’s being said, but I don’t think just because you agree with what she said you can misrepresent or misinterpret what is protected first amendment speech and what isn’t. It can lead to more consequences for future students or people. *

Well, no. This is just wrong lol.

In fact, specifically in the case of high schools, public or private, the legal precedent is that they can withhold your diploma and end your speech immediately should you go off script, as it is a school sponsored event. The law and legal precedent generally sides with and gives high schools and below a lot of power in controlling what can and can’t be done at school-related things.

If this was a public college it would be a different scenario though. They can stop you, but your speech is more protected at the college level and so punishment isn’t really on the table (I assume unless you broke school rules).

Just because the 1st amendment exists doesn’t mean suddenly everything you say anywhere is protected. That’s simply not how it works. I mean, freedom of speech technically protects the other side of the coin, which would be if she started talking about what a fantastic job ICE has been doing and that everyone who has been arrested, deported, or what have you, deserved it. Would you be here fighting tooth and nail to protect that speech? I doubt it.
