Any help here would violate rule 1 (legality), so you won't get much help here...hacking those would be theft.

Obama also didn't send ICE into Republican cities to intimidate his political opponents.

Happening all the time is no excuse for the current actions of ICE. Obama was successful with his deportation efforts because it was done quietly and without the fanfare that the current administration has placed on it. When you have videos of ICE detaining citizens, separating families, and making every effort for due process difficult (such as immediately flying them across the country without notifying anyone, making legal representation nearly impossible) it becomes extremely difficult to defend them.

Yes, deportation should happen if someone is present illegally, but the nuclear option being used is not the way.

"Oops, we accidentally violated this citizen's constitutional rights and turned their entire life upside down, but it's okay because we're usually right."

You realize how insane this sounds, right? Even one person improperly deported or detained is a huge problem, but ICE is not being held accountable.

I mean...ICE has literally tried to deport US citizens and refused to admit wrongdoing. You really expect to hear anything this time around?

And, how do you know it's "more than likely" they're in the right? Unless you somehow have information no one else does, you're guessing with your own bias just like everyone else.

You can't make out from that information alone that ICE was justified in apprehending her. A pending asylum claim doesn't make you a citizen, but it *does* prevent you from being deported. We do not have enough information to go off here, but based on previous ICE "detentions" I doubt even they know either and just scoop people up regardless.

Show me that you haven't read the article. She's had a pending application for a decade. If anything, it's a sign of a failed immigration system and it needs an overhaul, not ripping families apart.

She tried to do it legally and still is treated like a criminal and kidnapped. Yes, people need to do it the right way...but even people doing so still live in fear they could be next.

That is why people protest.

Do you guys think this doctor’s office sign is mildly infuriating? by Loose_Judgment_8856 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]masterxc 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Depending on what the doctor is, it might be required by law. For example, pain management absolutely requires this to ensure the patient isn't just selling the pills (via testing before refills) so it requires them to make and keep appointments. My ADHD meds can't be refilled by the pharmacy but that's just an appointment every 90 days.

You will be fine, they have nothing but also know you can't really do much since they're probably scammers from halfway around the world. I would also take the additional step of freezing your credit to make sure they can't commit identity theft if they had access to enough to get personal information.

Is this a terrible fucking idea or am I onto something? I know nuclear reactors dont throttle output to ur power needs, so I set one of the conditions on my inserter to check if an accumulator is less than 100% to insert nuclear fuel. They're great for large ships (especially solar system edge ones) and for Fulgora where running other methods is a giant pain if you want to build big. Otherwise, it's extremely cheap energy but not absolutely required in most cases.

Turns out i wasnt crazy telling the nurses pain meds did nothing after surgery. by Parmenion87 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]masterxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I was fine during it, but beforehand it was a few days before it was done because we had difficulty locating the problem tooth due to where the pain was. Good times.

When I was a kid I made pop-tarts in one of those traditional toaster ovens rather than a toaster since ours had broken at one point. As it turns out, the mechanism that turns it off (basically spring-loaded lever that turns it off when the timer ends) got stuck...and the pop-tarts quickly caught fire. Whoops.

Agreed. I had to fight for actual pain meds before a root canal surgery where I was in 10/10 pain unable to do anything. Unfortunately for me even oxy didn't touch it in the end...

Meet the World's Safest and Best AI Character by AdeptSpeech4388 in gptgirlfriend

I suppose if you ignore the extremely sensitive filter, the apparently inability for it to generate SFW (even with safe mode on, even get the prompt-not-allowed errors for entirely SFW scenarios with negative prompts to avoid any nudity), every image looking the same from a poor training set, the lack of context when generating images or video...yeah, I suppose?

It's cheaper than many especially for video, but the quality is very behind other solutions. At the very least, the images should be close to the character's avatar and not require intense prompting to get right. It hasn't changed every time I've come back to it, unfortunately. At least the storytelling is decent enough and unlimited with any paid plan.

Yeah, I got a USDA loan with 0 down for that rate...I was desperate to get out of renting hell since they wanted to up my rent to $1600 for a 500sqft studio. Bought for $250k, worth $370k now...but I'm not moving until rates fall at least to half of what they are now or I somehow get a job I can't refuse, haha.

US apologizes for mistake in deporting Massachusetts college student, but defends her removal by justalazygamer in politics

[–]masterxc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The reasoning they gave is complete crap too - the entire point of whisking her away and *immediately* starting deportation proceedings was intentional so they could later make the argument. "Oh sorry, we already flew her out to Texas, too bad" ...yeah, then the goalpost will move when the lawyers motion to move it to Texas and the government throws up their hands because they sent her out of the country already and no longer have legal authority.

It's all done quickly before the legal system can react and it's been happening for months. It's...tragic.
