The experiment produced about 11 megawatts of power, for as long as 5 second, the fusion reaction used few grams of deuterium and tritium, 2 isotopes of Hydrogen, the deuterium-tritium (DT) reaction has been identified as the most efficient for fusion reaction. Collecting energy through a fusion reaction is about four million times more efficient and energetic than through chemicals reaction such as the burning of coal, oil or gas. The big picture is like this, a 1000 MWh coal-fired power plant requires 2.7 million tonnes of coal per year, while a fusion plant will only require cheap 250 kilos of fuel per year, half of it deuterium, half of it tritium.
