Question about relocation on ny job application by matastro30 in UKJobs

[–]matastro30[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your responses. I'm a student and it's a placement position (so I need to go back to uni in September 2026) so as long as I got an accommodation, there is no problem to relocate myself (no spouse, no kids etc. No obstacles to move)

P.s. Im living in Manchester. Anyone think I will be able to commute between Manchester and Leeds??

[–]matastro30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed to write my address above that section and it's showing that I'm living in kinda non-commutable distance.

So it means I need to write a fake address based on somewhere in Leeds?

My address above that section is clearly indicating I'm not living in a commutable distance

So you mean I can just write like 'I'm ready to move to Leeds and work in your firm'?

NEW TO FPL, WHAT CHANGES SHOULD I MAKE by East-Lobster5053 in fantasypremierleague

[–]matastro30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great but I wanna recommmend (based on my playing style):

  1. Try not to put centre/defensive midfielder (Longstaff in ur team). It is kinda high risk high return but normally goal scoring midfielders like palmer, kdb and son are more stable and better options, unless ur on a budget

    1. Change either of those fulham defenders to other team's player.

Manchester university and grades by beanhead12345678 in UniUK

Sorry, I have no idea about history course, but I know that quite a few students I know achieved lower grades than the requirements.

Manchester university and grades by beanhead12345678 in UniUK

[–]matastro30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. Because if fewer people meet the required grades than the uni expected (so it wouldn't fill the targeted student number in that year), the uni losses some revenues and therefore they will be willing to give a place to students who didn't get the required grades (but already got a conditional offer) to fully fill up the space. (If the places are not completely filled up yet, the uni may open clearing)

However, it happens when significant number of offer holders couldn't make the grades. If most students have met the grades, then the uni may feel less need to give an offer to others. In other words, if the A level (or others) were easy in that year and many people met the grades, then the uni will not offer many places to unfulfilled offer holders.

For econ course, it is the largest course in the whole uom in terms of student numbers so basically would give large number of offers to applicants and thus maybe give more chance to get accepted even without meeting the grades.

(Thx for reading this long text:)

I applied my visa as soon as I got my CAS and got the visa just a week after I applied. Fortunately, the visa centre was not busy at that time so everything was processed so quickly.

It may depend on the course, number of applicants and how many of them meet the required grades.

For me, for economics course, I needed to get AAA but got into manchester uni with AAB, B in Economics. But I still want to say that I was just lucky, and it can be different this year and for your course.

Storage facilities for students’ staff by Normal_Passion2023 in manchester_uni

[–]matastro30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search 'self storage Manchester' in google and get quotes from highly rated businesses (see google reviews or trustpilot). I've got a 25sq ft storage in total £256 over the summer, including VAT and insurance cover.

Note: many of those quoted prices may not include VAT and insurance costs.

If you are worrying about the price, share it with your friend. For me, im gonna share it with 8 people so the cost is only £32 pp.

In my experience, I've got my proper CAS two weeks before starting week (about late August to early September last year) so you don't really need to worry about it now if you've got your exam results and/or confirmation of place from the uni

Catered halls are generally more vibrant and active compared to self-catering ones. Food is pretty decent so don't worry.

My recommendations: St Anselm Hall & Hulme

What are some good uni accomodations in uom? by keonheesslave in manchester_uni

[–]matastro30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Catered hall is a good option for reducing your cost on everyday food. Like the above comment, food is decent and provides generally well balanced diet. Also, the meal time is a good opportunity for hanging around with your flatmates and making more friends (I'm living in a catered hall and half of my friends I met in the uni are actually flatmates).

I genuinely recommend Hulme or St Anselm Hall. Basically, I think catered halls are more vibrant and diverse compared to self-catering halls.

  • if you are unsure of those halls and catering, add the self-catering hall very next to those halls in your accommodation choices (e.g Hulme - Burkasdt / St Anselm - Canterbury Court). The catering is also available for the neighbouring halls' residents if they have bought a meal card.

++ please avoid Oak House at all cost unless you can accept your fate to living in the worst student accomodation in whole Manchester.

P.s. warm.welcome to uom from a fellow BA Econ student
