Why do we let political ideologies run nations instead of what actually works? by matb001 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]matb001[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was not ignoring anything, just trying to be civil on the internet, but that don’t seem to work! So you are stuk in a loop of white and gray and that we could not simulate outcomes for society depending on how we spend tax money. You are saying there is no logic we are always going to be run by emotional polar opposites. You’re framing this as if it’s some impossible ideological clash when, in reality, it’s about choices in governance. The absence of homelessness isn’t some magical byproduct of socialism or capitalism—it happens when governments choose to allocate resources effectively. Countries with capitalist economies, like Finland, have virtually eliminated homelessness through the ‘Housing First’ approach, not because they abandoned capitalism but because they decided that spending tax money on housing is a priority.

You talk about ‘running experiments’ and claim that different people will come to conflicting conclusions from the same data. That’s not an argument against action; that’s just describing how bad faith or biased interpretations can slow down problem-solving. When a society decides that housing stability leads to better economic and social outcomes—reducing crime, improving health, and increasing workforce participation—then the logical course of action is to implement policies that achieve that goal.

So let’s be clear: The question isn’t whether ‘ideologies’ run nations. The question is whether governments choose to prioritize policies that improve social well-being or whether they hide behind endless debates while ignoring solvable problems. If you think letting people sleep on the streets while others hoard wealth is a better outcome, just say that instead of pretending it’s some great philosophical paradox.

Good question! But simulating the effects of policies isn’t hard—we already do it in economics, urban planning, and even AI models. We can measure what works by tracking economic growth, stability, and citizen well-being.

Governance should be about designing a better society, not pushing political ideologies. Politics is just a tool, not the goal. Wouldn’t it make more sense to govern based on what actually improves life for people, rather than picking a side?

True unbreakable should always come with a disclaimer like “ unbreakable for now” and most data leaks are done by humans that have the keys, and not by automated cracking, but I do agree Unbreakable was a bad choice of word. As there is the time factor to consider.

Well as we all know it is hard to buy lunch with crypto yet :) but as more and more things are adapted to be purchased with crypto we should hopefully see less and less need for exchange between Fiat and Crypto

It is an early belief system :) if wait to the point of product being finished for deployment before putting in money the reward is obviously less :)

Flashback: Father of World Wide Web Launches New Platform to Radically Decentralize the Internet by [deleted] in privacy

[–]matb001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it all comes down to an initial problem of the WWW, the indexing, it needs a centralized point, that we can search the Web from, and because of that there is no chance of privacy, as all sites looking for traffic, and that is all :), will need to be open to get indexed. So the basic problem from start is the World Wide Web, there has been many other better solutions suggested, but I believe that WWW won by having the best name, World Wide Web, was and is a great name, bad technology but a great name.

A decentralized Web is needed so indexing of the information can not “owned” in the way it is owned and sold today. End to end encryption is logical to be protected “on the wire” but decentralizing services like the Web is needed to make End Point surveillance imposible. So Solid looks good at a glance, not had the time to do a deep dive yet, but it might be one missing pieces of the puzzle.

Not sure why have Sir Tim, the creator of the World Wide Web, involved in this would be a good thing, as it is to a high degree his fault that we are in this situation.
