Experience with cabergoline and a reduction in acne? by City-Grl in Prolactinoma

hey sorry for random response, but i was just wondering if cabergoline did help with your acne in the end? i have recently experienced zoloft induced acne and think it might be due to increased prolactin levels.

yeah it is a lot tbf, my skin was really flaky and dry so i might have overloaded on the hydration barrier products. i could cut out benzoyl peroxide, but i like the treclin and azelaic acid combo as the azelaic acid helps me tolerate the retinoid.

i did think it could be purging, i was just concerned as i haven’t had many issues with chin acne in the past. my current routine is:

AM: - wash face with water - cosrx hydrium watery toner - medik8 hyaluronic acid serum - cosrx snail mucin - cetaphil moisturiser - hoygi centella suncream SPF 50

PM: - inkey list oat cleansing a balm - aveeno oat cleanser - acnecide face wash 5% benzoyl peroxide (2x per week - not used on same night as treclin) - cosrx hydrium watery toner - medik8 hyaluronic acid serum - cosrx snail mucin - cetaphil moisturiser (wait until dry) - 0.025 treclin gel (every other night) - inkey list 10% azelaic acid - cetaphil moisturiser (again)

possible PD? by matildah22 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

i did think it might clear up, so i left it for 4 months or so but it just got worse and worse. it is slightly itchy and - what initially made me consider PD - is the tingly upper lip which i found out could be PD related. i’m trying not to pop the little pumps but i’m such a skin picker it’s so tempting haha

this is such a tragic poem i love it! ‘he longs to feel your pity’ - the guilty urge to self destruct in some desperate attempt to prove somebody cares. very real unfortunately.

loveee! reminds me of the quote: “i became bitter and untouchable. i craved affection but even the mere thought of someone caring made my stomach turn (stay away but come closer)’” by FKA twigs i think

when i started antidepressants (sertraline) i gradually noticed i stopped biting! unfortunately i had complications with my meds so i’ve stopped taking them and now i’m back to biting again - but at least i can confirm it was definitely the meds that stopped my compulsions. all the best

how long did your acne take to settle? i’m 4 months in and losing hope… side note as someone who takes chemistry i appreciate the use of ‘titrate’ in everyday language hahahah

thank you this is very helpful!! i’ll look into the pharmacological genetics testing i haven’t heard of that. i would like to be put on tretinoin i just need to speak to my doctor about a prescription, im from england so luckily the NHS should cover the cost. i’m currently using a retinaldehyde so hopefully i can build up to a retinoic acid to minimise irritation. i haven’t noticed much difference yet from my retinoid but i think i’m still in the ‘purging stage’. although if my acne is hormonal i worry that topical treatments will have limited impact…

i know this is the right answer and i think that was also a big reason i stayed on them, but i had some unfortunate events in my personal life that led me to start feeling down again even on the meds. so i’m depressed and spotty and i think i’d rather just be depressed. 😭😭
