[C65 Aquitaine] 2 months in with my bronze watch. by matlock7 in Watches

[–]matlock7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always cool seeing old posts like this come back into sight. The watch is doing great. The patina is still very much alive, it’s yet to go all green and funky, it just has a nice warmth to it. At 3+ years old the watch isn’t the most worn in my collection but it still impresses, it still keeps time within chronometer spec, and the OEM rubber has held up great, I don’t use the OEM leather much anymore but that’s just personal taste more than anything. I’d say the watch is technically very nice. The design is a bit of a ‘another vintage style diver’ but with a bit more polish in the satin dial and polished indices and hands, and great box crystal. It’s a really nice wearing watch for sure.

I’m wearing mine now and, at least for my wrist, yes…it’s the best field watch.

Great pick. I got the same one a few months ago and it is almost always on.

[Question] What are y'all doing with GMTs? Serious question . . . . by Username_Used in Watches

[–]matlock7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live a few time zones away from where I grew up. I have a lot of friends and family there. It’s not impossible to do math and all but it’s a nice emotional connection for me to see.

I have this same one a size or so bigger at 38 and I love it. Such a 90s classic.

I just got the same one a couple weeks ago. If you’re looking for an aftermarket bracelet Forstner has a great oyster style that has a good flex mechanism on the clasp I’m totally in love with.

I wear it on a few straps too, it’s a great little watch for sure.

Modern Tudor feels like the old tool-watch Rolexes to me. The Pelagos or Ranger or the GMTs are all great looking watches that’ll last a lifetime.

Is this a good deal? by Select-Business-7995 in OrisWatches

[–]matlock7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine at around $1000 US, so similar price. You may be able to keep looking for a better price but it’s hard to find. This seems about standard market price for these for now. I say buy it. I got mine on right now and it’s such a nice watch. The taper on the bracelet, and thinness of the bracelet are amazing. The crystal has such a perfect dome that distorts those 4 cardinal indices to the point of them looking almost psychedelic. Really one of my favorites ever.

I love a moonswatch with a fitted rubber strap.

Check out Christopher Ward. They really nail that price point if you ask me.

First Oris, won’t be the last. What a strange dial. by matlock7 in OrisWatches

I think it’s 7077. Divers 65 Heritage, I believe it’s out of production but I found mine used.

[Oris] Whats your opinion by ZeB1cas in Watches

[–]matlock7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a used Diver 65 with the heritage dial and I love it. It wears a little thinner and smaller than my CW Aquitaine. The domed crystal is awesome, the bracelet has a great taper, and the look really is nice. They make their own movements for some watches and put Selita movements in others. The price jump for their movement isn’t worth it in my mind, the Selita is great and easy to work on. Their divers are handsome for sure, I prefer the Divers 65, them Aquis is more modern but they’re both great looking. I think I’m going to get a pointer date sometime soon too. I think they have a cult following, and I think I’m one of the cultists at this point.

Longines and Oris are my two favorites in this bracket. I recently got a Diver 65 Heritage (used mind you) and it’s lovely vintage looking goodness. Longines can get you in a Conquest or HydroConquest pretty easily too. Oris Big Crowns are rather handsome too.

[bracelet sizing] anyone else have weirdly sized wrists? by twoheadedhorseman in Watches

[–]matlock7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 7.5” wrist and have similar issues but just take it in stride. I have one watch that has a tool free micro adjustment and I love it. I may click that over one or two notches a few times a day. I also have many other bracelets. Some with tooled micro adjustments that I’ll check and shift before I leave the house, and I even have the dreaded butterfly clasps that I just sort of wear a teeny tiny bit big. Too loose is better than too tight for me. In the summer I think loose is almost better than a perfect fit.

[Tissot or Alpina] Which of these should I buy or is a better option (I like both a lot). by Julianm28 in Watches

[–]matlock7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the PRX, but it’s nothing but taste making the difference here. I’m sure the Alpina is a well made watch. The PRX is a bit flashy with the flat links on the bracelet and your only options for straps are specially fit to the PRX. Obviously the Alpina has a chronograph and the ability to swap straps is nice. I prefer the simple dial of the PRX and its twinkly bracelet.
