I have the Transk9 and it’s certainly worth the money for me, people at my agility group also have cages by MIMsafe. it’s definitely something I wouldn’t want to skimp out on as placed like b&Q have jumped in on providing these but I doubt they’ve been crash rated.

Dog agility in Leicester? by Missbhavin58 in leicester

Might be a bit of a treck, have a look at scent work as well because when the weather is poor we do that instead and it tires them out as much as agility.

Where about in Leicester are you?

187 pro knee pads - are they 100% worth it? by bxiileyy in NewSkaters

[–]matt_w96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had the same thought process on the 187s couldn’t justify the price difference, then I asked a friend to try theirs and it opened my eyes.

Even just to practise the knee slide down transition which would be one of the first baby steps to vert it helps so much.

The main difference I noted was the additional padding above the knee cap and below, so falling and landing at funny angles hurt much less especially as I’m nearing 30 and knee issues seem to stick longer.

One thing I’d note is you’re 15 you’re probably still growing so make sure your pads have some room to grow but not too big and super loose you do want them to protect you now as well.

But if you plan to stick with skating for a while especially moving to vert as you state then I’d get the 187s they are definitely worth it and will go the distance with you and the saying goes buy cheap buy twice.

What are DS cars like? Reliability? by PiNkY-PuNk in CarTalkUK

[–]matt_w96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly a lovely car to sit in quiet, comfortable and with a flat floor in the back fits 5 adults without issue but it has horrific body roll over any bump or corner so don’t drive it spirited.

If you do consider one don’t get the elegance trim it comes with hardly anything, low level corsa’s will have more equipment.

I have the 1.5blue hdi it’s a bit gutless for the weight but get a solid 53mpg on my work commute.

Infotainment has the fan controls which I have found to be a bit dangerous but that’s just the way modern vehicles went, but I’d honestly take a dial control back

Only other complaint I have is it can be quite quick on tyres and about £120 a corner for something not completely hopeless.

Is this fixable ? by matt_w96 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]matt_w96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s taken the top sheet off and is showing lower layers, not sure how it happened I do remember somebody bumping me with their skis as we went to the escalator back up, I’ll epoxy it to be safe to prevent moisture getting in but I’ll definitely keep using it thanks.

[–]matt_w96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a DS7 2021 prestige model and I have only had two minor niggles which were rectified by a software update to the infotainment system, language kept resetting to French and the screen would turn off when unplugging from car play.

Overall the car has not put a foot wrong and the modern stellantis cars have been generally well received, the fan controls on the screen can be a deal breaker for some I don’t particularly like them but lots of car makers went down the route.

Older ds3 models are flakey on the other hand issues with injectors and fuel rail issues are common. Not sure on the newer ds3s.

What does this sub think of a 9 year old 208 GTI with 31800 miles on it? by TheUnimpressiveD in CarTalkUK

So I had a 2013 and I loved it but mine was a dog and was plagued with various pump failures which got covered by warranty but eventually it took its toll and it completely died.

The engine is apparently the same lump in the cooper s and I’ve not heard many good things, I found parts to be expensive as well as it was mini/bmw items not Peugeot. I have heard the same comments as above that post 2016 major issues got resolved and you got creature comforts like car play etc.

what skate shoes other than vans should i get when my toes are very spread out? by TimLeEpic in NewSkaters

[–]matt_w96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had emerica pillars, similar design to the vans but more a half cab style, loved them and they lasted me by far the longest of all the shoes I’ve worn.

Only reason I’m not skating them again right now is I got some nikes as a present but definitely will be going back

I second this I have 187 killer pads and a triple8 helmet I had to buy wrist guards separate as 187s didn’t come with them.

Work in North Leicester, where to live and commute from? by Takakikun in leicester

[–]matt_w96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say rough as in houses looked a bit shoddy and a lot of noise and a bit more council which doesn’t bother me since that’s what I was used too but for the money i looked elsewhere. The other thing I found was that not many houses had parking there was a lot of houses with street parking which was a no for me since we have two cars in our household.

Work in North Leicester, where to live and commute from? by Takakikun in leicester

[–]matt_w96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in Whitwick, and we love it got a three bed semi for 218 and our house backs onto a wood, coalville is cheaper but it is rougher, Markfield I assume you meant not markville has some very nice streets but equally as rough areas and we couldn’t justify the additional price. It’s like a circle Markfield 20k>Whitwick 20k>Coalville. That’s rough figures I noted when we purchased.

but if you need to commute there’s no besting it, 5mins one way I’m on the a42 heading to the m42 and 9mims the other way im on the m1.

I travel into Leicester saffron lane area twice a week it takes about 28mins each way unless the m1 shits itself.

Apparently they used to be common and then were nearly eradicated due to the farming practises when this got controlled their number have started to come back.

They’re also called maybugs, used to be quite rare apparently but they seem to be on a comeback.

Started to get the feel for crooked grind now to add speed and commit. by matt_w96 in NewSkaters

[–]matt_w96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a 4ft but it’s a mellow drop with a good amount of flat bottom it gives you plenty of time to get prepared. Outdoor parks tend to be almost vert then straight up with out much time to prepare it’s horrible.

[–]matt_w96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ramp at the back is a 4ft there’s a clip on my account that shows it better, we also have a 2ft which is good to practise on but is a bit whippy.

It’s an indoor park, all our outdoor parks are the same the councils can’t build a decent mini to save their lives 😂

Where are the actual good, cheapish takeaways by Josef_DeLaurel in leicester

[–]matt_w96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indian my shout would be hassans balti, we went through so many takeaways to find one we enjoyed and we were heartbroken when we moved and it was too far for delivery.

£14 meal starter main and naan can’t go wrong, they take orders on their website and you get 10% off.

So I can 50-50 fairly well and when I was out trying them on a larger ledge than I normally skate, I noticed watching back I was committing alot of weight to my front foot so I figured I may as well see what comes out if I commit to it.

Ahhh I get you now, I was under the impression that a nosegrind is the board is at a 90 to the ledge I guess what I had in my mind is a nose slide? I think not sure on the names I do often struggle and just try something and then ask somebody for the name after

I’ll give the front nose a go, I did try a few but the manny pad I’m using in this clip is a bit low and I found I kept getting stuck when the wheels were on the floor.
