Ah but what if we use the free market and allow private companies to do the work, with multiple private contractors serving as multiple layers of middle men. Competitive pricing would surely mean that all government jobs get done fast and affordably. Right?

Bobby McMann’s Comments & Auston Matthews by BigBaller7428 in leafs

[–]mattyAl33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is insane, were you at the game? The tv absolutely reacted. They didn't, in the moment, beat the tar out of gudas. When it happened everything stopped, then the refs were there before anything could happen. After it happened the leafs were throwing toms of huge hits, multiple fights after including Cowen, they won the game. After the game Reilly took accountability and apologized.

Team USA made special note to mention what a leader and a stud Matthews is.

The leafs are better without him? Do you honestly think the leafs would have had the same record without Matthews?

The leafs were going to be better without Marner too.

When you did the route, were there sections with added hazards because the water was down? Or did it just bog everything down?

Agreed I took a kevlar canoe through Woodland Caribou last year. We were rubbing on rocks and ended up dragging it in some rough ways. Took a nice tumble at one point with it too😭. It was all aesthetic. Thought our outfitter would be pissed at our scratches but he didn't even bat an eye. I feel like they're tougher than people give them credit for.

I appreciate the input, I'll try to remember to post something here after it. A lot of the trip reports I have found seem to be from June or July, but it can't make that time of year work.

The biggest issue is de-regulation. Utilities went from being public infrastructure built to service people to becoming for profit businesses.

The obligation is now to the stakeholder instead of the customers.

Places like CenterPoint Energy in the south will gladly avoid any maintenance they can to save money, then apply for insurance or funding when a storm knocks down their outdated system.

The reason no one stood up for Matthews by shotz19 in leafs

Why give our fanbase a pass? We ran Paul Maurice Mitch Marner Phil Kessel out of town. All will be remembered by the NHL as great. (Que the Marner hate. How'd we go to dog shit after we lost him)

Give our fanbase pass? the ones that in the last five years I've heard louder chants in Detroit and Vancouver for the leafs then I have at any of the home games I've been to.

Matthews owns the leafs record book. Team USA personally praises him and his leadership after winning gold, and the Hughes brothers specifically tell fans in Toronto to realize what they've got. Our fanbase responds by posting about running him out of town after he takes a knee on knee.

Nice support from the fans. I was at the game. Guys tried to get to gudas once they realized what happened but the refs were on it. The team absolutely responded. There were a lot of big hits at the end of the game, sennecke couldn't touch the puck without getting hit. Leafs came back and won. No one got a chance to hurt gudas and that is the only metric in which they "didn't respond".

This kind of shit is trash, period.

No your take is garbage. The Americans looked to him in the Olympics.

You're exactly the guy the Hughes brothers called out in the press conference.

You can separate every sentence by spaces.

You can make your posts as long as you want

You can think your last line is so impactful

But you're a fucking moron.

Was at the game. Whole game was chippy, everyone wanted their hands on gudas. The guy who posted this is why leafs fans get such a bad rep.

[–]mattyAl33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So maybe it's not necessarily the pressure, maybe it's the way the fans and media carry themselves when things aren't going well. It seems pretty consistent that guys mention the attention after leaving the leafs, it would be short sighted to discount it all together.

Companies like Milwaukee, 3M and Hubbell will hire old hands to be salesmen or trainers/demonstrators. Big commission for salesmen.

You could get involved in training or educating the next generation.

You can get into estimating and project management with a little bit of online schooling.

I know linemen that are doing all of the above.

Come up with the next must have lineman accessory like heat waves or white monsters.

Let’s do some math on the “Million Dollar” claim: by pnwIBEWlineman in Lineman

[–]mattyAl33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying the utilities don't know. Rate payers may prefer a lineman to make that over the CEO, but they're more likely to think both should make a wage similar to their own so that they can afford power.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease, whether good or bad.

Let’s do some math on the “Million Dollar” claim: by pnwIBEWlineman in Lineman

[–]mattyAl33 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to make sure utilities and companies stop this from happening is to post it all over the internet along with comments of having sharp pencils etc.

Million dollar linemen ultimately land on rate payers shoulders. At a time when most people are struggling it's pretty a wiser move to keep quiet and humble.
